The last of battleships bearing the vestige of the Principality of Zeon's Gwazine class, the Gwadan class also sports a crimson hull and supersized external tanks in the stern. One of the major upgrades is the provision of MS catapults, in particular the MS launcher in the bottom hull that can launch Mobile Suits in any angle of its 270-degree fore sweep. With grand meeting halls catering for use by Zabi family members (in effect Mineva Zabi), the Gwadan class was designed to serve as flagship of the entire Axis fleet.
The Gwadan class is the largest of all warships constructed in the Universal Century era, with unsurpassed firepower and MS capacity. Its primary battery packs enough power to destroy the thermonuclear engine of the colony laser, Gryps. Although little details are known about this vessel class, its cavernous MS hangar is thought to hold up to 100 MS units. Such capabilities allow Haman Karn's forces to operate the vessel like a mobile fortress and command center for the entire fleet.
Apart from the namesake vessel, a second vessel named Gwaley appears in the non-canon Gundam Sentinel episode.
