Gursharan Kaur

Gursharan Kaur is the wife of Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India.

Gurusharan Kaur is the daughter of Sardar Chattar Singh Kohli and Sardarni Bhagwanti Kaur. She was married to Dr. Manmohan Singh at Amritsar in 1958. She is known in Sikh community of Delhi for her kirtan performances. Even before their marriage she used to sing on Radio.Later she took regular classes and learnt classical music.

She has admirable quality of taking on responsibilities. Ever since , Dr. Singh has become Prime Minister, she has accompanied him on tours around the world.Her three daughters - Upinder Kaur, Damandeep Kaur, Amrit Singh have all been quite successful in their careers. While Upinder heads History department at St. Stephens Delhi, Amrit who has studied at Cambridge works as a Lawyer for a Non Profit Organisation in New York.
