Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti is a Sikh playwright born in Watford, who has written for soap operas EastEnders, Westway and Crossroads.

Her second play, Behzti (meaning Dishonour) depicted murder and sex abuse in a Sikh temple. After violent protests against the play by Sikh groups on 18 December 2004 the Birmingham Repertory Theatre controversially cancelled the play. Death threats reportedly forced Bhatti to go into hiding.
