Gurdial Singh Dhillon

Dr. Gurdial Singh Dhillon (August 6, 1915 - March 23, 1992) was a Punjabi politician belonging to Indian National Congress party.

Gurdial Singh Dhillon was born in a landlord jat family of Panjwar area, some 20 kilimeter west of Amritsar city in Punjab. He studied at Khalsa College, Amritsar and Government College, Lahore before graduating in Law from University Law College, Lahore.

Gurdial Singh Dhillon was Member of the Legislative Assembly in Punjab from 1952 till 1967, when he was first elected to the Indian Parliament representing Taran Taran parliamentary constituency.

Gurdial Singh Dhillon was elected speaker of Indian Parliament from 1969 to 1975 and served as Minister of Agriculture in Indian Government from 1986-1988.

He also served as Indian High Commissioner to Canada from 1980-1982.
