[edit] Welcome!

Hi Gunslinger, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

[edit] Wikify & Cleanup

Hi Gunslinger,

I've noticed that your new articles have been tagged by others with Wikify and Cleanup because they do not appear to be in the correct style. You want to try fixing it yourself, but it's okay if you prefer to leave it for others to fix it. Happy editing! - Mailer Diablo 02:37, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for experimenting with the page Nicolas Cage on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. -- — xaosflux Talk 02:34, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Johansson as "Jade Spence" in Scoop

Sondra Pransky is the name given to her character on the official site, and in the interviews that are now appearing. I think it's pretty clear from the content of the trailer, that Spence is an alias she invents, so i'm not really sure that it's relavant here. It could even be sonsidered a spoiler, as it's a plotpoint rather than a fact. Addmitedly two names are recorded for Woody Allen's character, but was he's described as a performer in the publicity, and "splendini" is clearly a stage name, i don't really think it's the same thing. So basically, i'm thinking of removing it. Amo 22:18, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WTC

On the World Trade Center (film) page, in the history you talked about how the producers didn't involve enough of the families. This is however not true. They used real firemen who survived the attacks to make it as real as possible. As well to make the characters and how they acted more real, they met many families of the deceased, in the Sept 11 attacks. --Koolgiy 14:25, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] link to bosnian

Hello, when you want to link to the article about something Bosnian, please do not link to Bosnian, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as Bosnia (region) or Bosnia and Herzegovina by writing out [[Bosnia and Herzegovina|Bosnian]]. Regards, Jeff3000 02:50, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Naming

Hi Gunslinger, I reverted your name change of Stormbreaker to "Alex Rider:Operation Stormbreaker" in the Ewan McGregor article. The former is the international and de-facto title, the latter was a renaming for the US market, as explained in the first paragraph of the Stormbreaker article. In cases such as this when an article already exists under an international name, it makes sense to follow the article title. The manual of style covers all the bases about naming and spellings. [edit] Having the Scoop movie poster on your user page

Please see #9 on Wikipedia:Fair use#Policy, which indicates you cannot use the image outside of the article namespace, which is Scoop. Please adhere to the policy and remove the image. --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 20:26, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. [edit] License tagging for Image:DanielCraigAtTribeca05.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:DanielCraigAtTribeca05.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:06, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:CRBnr1.JPG

Hi. I've listed this for deletion - the logo is shown twice already the article and this therefore has a fair weak fair use rationale. You can comment at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Thanks Mark83 13:43, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Gone60.jpeg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gone60.jpeg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShadowHalo 23:21, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:BreakingandEnteringBigPoster.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:BreakingandEnteringBigPoster.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:EvaGreenPhoto.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:EvaGreenPhoto.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Sorry about the image deletion on Casino Royale. I can't even get the image of the dvd on the page without it being deleted. Assume good faith - yes that image would seem consistent -I also suggested an image of Mr White might be helpful but it too was deleted. I personally prefer images in articles to help provide a better understanding but there are many who think they clutter and degrade the article. If you have any ideas though how the imrpove the article textually feel free to make suggestions on the talk page . THanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" "S.P.E.C.T.R.E" 12:04, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
