Gunnar Edvard Rode Heiberg (November 18, 1857 - February 22, 1929), was a Norwegian playwright from the city of Oslo. For a period he worked as a journalist in Dagbladet and he also wrote some longer, philosophical poems. From 1884 to 1888, he was director of the theatre Den Nationale Scene in Bergen.

Heiberg's works were quite controversial in his own time, but today he is often mentioned as the most significant Norwegian playwright next to Henrik Ibsen. His best known plays are Balkonen (The Balkony, 1894) and Kjærlighedens Tragedie (The Tragedy of Love, 1904).
