Originally starting in 1989 as Full's creative outlet called Guniw that incorporated artwork and music, Guniw Tools became what it’s known as today after Jake joined later on in 1992. Before becoming major, Asaki joined the group as a support guitarist but officially joined after becoming a hit with the fans. In 1996 they were signed to Victor Entertainment, a major record company and quickly released their first album Niwlun
Jake was responsible for the musical style on their first three albums, writing almost all of the songs, wich some duties falling to Full and Asaki. Asaki added an industrial influence to many songs as well as providing backup vocals and took a much more prominant role following the departure of Jake. Guniw Tools' music ranges all over the map, from regular rock to industrial to jazz-influenced to inspired by countries like Nepal and India. The visuals were always interesting, especially on stage. Full is rather known for being eccentric, to wearing unusual hats to fullblown bizzare costumes, and they often used outrageously dressed dancers. Guniw Tools never really had a typical visual kei image, instead preferring to be slightly more quirky.
