Gunhild Hoffmeister is a German athlete who competed mainly in the 1500 metres.

She competed for East Germany in the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich, Germany in the 1500 metres where she won the Silver medal. She then won her second medal at the games in the 800m by finishing third.

She returned to the next Olympics in 1976 in Montreal, Canada where she again finished second in the 1500m taking her Olympic tally to 3 medals.
