Gullah, Gullah Island (December 1, 1994-January 1, 1997) was a children's television series created by Ron and Natalie Daise shown on Nick Jr. and the first show designed for preschoolers to feature an African American family. The show stars Ron and Natalie Daise. As they guide viewers through Gullah culture, Ron and Natalie are accompanied by three children (Simeon, Shaina, and James), their niece (Vanessa), and a frog named Binya Binya Pollywog. TV Guide selected Gullah Gullah Island as one of their top ten children's television shows in 1996.
The show had relatively high ratings during its daytime run in the 1990s. The set and the home interior and exterior was used for the show Clarissa Explains It All. Modifications were made, like adding brighter colors to the home in Gullah Gullah. The backyard was used on earlier episodes of All That as well.
