Gulf Yachting Association

The Gulf Yachting Association was originally formed in 1901 to promote the sport of yacht racing along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico from Texas to Florida. Originally consisting of six yacht clubs, membership has grown to number over thirty organizations.

Members include Apalachee Bay, Bay Waveland, Biloxi, Birmingham, Buccaneer, Cypremont, Fairhope, Ft. Walton, Grand Maumelle, Grand Lagoon, Gulfport, Houston, Jackson, Lake Arthur, Lake Charles, lake Forest, Long Beach, Mobile Yacht Club, Navy, New Orleans Yacht Club, Ocean Springs, Pass Christian, Pelican, Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, Point, Pontchartrain, St. Andrews bay, St. Petersburg, Singing River, Southern Yacht Club, South Shore and Tammany Yacht Clubs.

During Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, a full 17 member clubs were destroyed. Yet yacht racing participation has continued as the clubs rebuild.
