Guldborgsund municipality

As of January 1, 2007 Guldborgsund municipality will, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), come into existence as a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Denmark. It will consist of the (what are currently existing, but on January 1, 2007) former municipalities of Nykøbing Falster, Nysted, Nørre Alslev, Sakskøbing, Stubbekøbing, and Sydfalster municipalities. This will create a municipality with an area of 907 km² and a total population of 63,540 (2007). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").
