Guillaume Elmont

Guillaume Ricaldo Elmont (born August 10, 1981 in Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland) is a male judoka from the Netherlands, whose biggest success so far was winning the world title on September 9, 2005 at the World Championships in Cairo, Egypt. He did so in the 73 – 81 kg weight division. Elmont is one of four Dutch male judokas who won the world title, alongside Anton Geesink, Wim Ruska and Dennis van der Geest.
A former European champion with the juniors (2000), his father Ricardo is a former judoka himself, who represented Suriname at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada. Elmont himself made his Olympic debut at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where he was eliminated in the first round. His younger brother Dex is also competing on the highest level in judo.
