Originally constructed as Mary Jane Shannon Junior Secondary in 1974, the school was rebuilt as a 8-12 school and re-opened as Guildford Park Secondary in 1984

Guildford Park offers academic courses as part of the Advanced Placement (AP) program. It was ranked 135th in the Fraser Institute annual ranking of schools in 2004/05[1].

Guildford park has many sports. Including: Soccer, Wrestling, Volleyball, Rugby, Basketball, Badminton, Ultimate Frisbee, and most recently hockey.
