Article by Guelph University volunteer writer Troy Michael Frost, corresponding after Saturday's homegame...

["In the eyes of Guelph native Laura Mills, her Gryphons hockey team filled the home ice with valour Saturday: “We had a lot of people step up today and fill in some holes. Great work the whole game from my entire team. Bet you can guess when my favorite moment was though?” Great to see a bright smile on our star player’s face as she alludes to her remarkable goal 25 seconds into the third period, bringing her team’s score to 2-1. While defense was admirable through the first two periods, the increased energy of the Queen’s opposition led them to falter a touch in the third. Final score was 42 against the Gryphons, much to this powerful team’s chagrin. This 5’7 Wildlife Biology major had her work cut out for her against Queen’s deferrable goalie. Her quick-thinking left-shooting poise brought her down successfully against a smallopening from across the ice. Both teams had at least four penalties each, mostly for hooking; no idea why, but they were all hooking like crazy. There were no "powerplay" goals. They are currently tied for third with UofT as far as rankings go (from OUA). Sunday’s Brock game was ultimately a dejaview of the homegame as it saw a 5-3 loss, however it will be all eyes on the Gryphons this coming Saturday at Western University, where many expect these highly capable athletes to dominate the London ice."]
