I noticed this article sitting as an uncompleted link, and wrote the description from memory. I worked on the GTD-5 from 1980 until 1997, and was one of the engineers present at original cutover. I have not had any luck finding quotable reference material for the information contained herein. If anyone has copies of the old Automatic Electric Journal, it would help.
