Grzegorz Kołodko

Grzegorz W. Kołodko (born January 28, 1949 in Tczew, Poland) - professor of economics, renowned polish economist specializing in development economy, system reforms and public finances. He is alumni of Warsaw School of Economics. He received a scholarship from Fulbright Program during his appointment at University of Illinois. He took part in Polish Round Table talks. He held positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance four times between 1994 and 2003, under four different Prime Ministers. He is a consultant for the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, United Nations and OECD.

He authored 35 books and over 300 scientific articles in the area of economics. His publications were translated in over 20 languages. During various periods of his careed he lecturered at Warsaw School of Economics, Leon Koźmiński Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management, Yale University, UCLA and University of Rochester.

  • Multiple winner of special prizes by Poland's Minister of Education and Science.
  • Married, two daughters.
  • This led to amusing incident. During his first meeting with the EU representatives in Brussels he left the hotel early in the morning for a quick jog. He was however unable to come back, as none of the bodyguard recognized him.
