Grunthal, Manitoba

Grunthal is a small town in Manitoba located about 20 minutes west of Steinbach, and about 40 minutes south of Winnipeg. It has a population of about 900. Tourist attractions include the Grunthal Centennial Raceway, a motocross track, known to be one of the best in Manitoba. Major races are held there from July to September. Grunthals Annual Fairdays is held on the second weekend in August and includes a parade, rodeo and racing amongst other activities. Schools include K-4 South Oaks School, 5-12 Green Valley School. The religion in Grunthal includes a variety of Mennonite churches.
Grunthal is a German name and can be translated as Greenvalley (Grün = green + Thal = valley).
It is socially and, in the last two Federal elections, politically conservative. Its economy is agrarian based.
