Gruffydd Fychan I

Gruffydd Fychan I, prince of Powys Fadog 1277-1284. He was stripped of his titles following the Statute of Rhuddlan and died in 1289. He became prince following the death of his elder brother Madog in 1277. Like his brother he too was aligned to Llywelyn ap Gruffudd the Prince of Wales and fought on his side against the forces of Edward I of England during the war of 1282-1283. Following the collapse of resistance in Gwynedd, Gruffydd made peace with the English king but was stripped of his title and most of his lands. He was succeeded by his son Madog Crypl.
