Hi, this is Vaishak Belle. I am right now studying a double Master computer science program, called the European Masters in Informatics(www.eumi-school.org) with a European Union funded Scholarship. My speciliazation is(was) Embedded systems. I have, however, moved on other theoritical and practical parts of computer science apart a limited exposure to the aforementioned in my first semester(back then, I worked on Microcontrollers and FPGAs).

  • In the beginning of the year 2006, a couple of us built an application that provided clustered web results using standard web services. Since then, things got a lot more interesting.
  • From august of 2006 till the end of the year, I was primarily focussed on a Security thesis - Run time security verification using Contracts. My work was based on the Java platform and I used temporal operators to specify preconditions and postconditions. To understand contracts, refer a paper called Design by contracts by Bertrand Meyer. Essentially, this work was done as Master thesis by a student here at the University and I worked through the theory and developed source code and customizations for the Java platform. Am Writing a report about this right now and soon I will probably host it on source forge.
  • Simultaneously, last October I started work on a project called Ontotext under Prof. Luciano Serafini. My task was to map domain data to Ontological models. Everyone hears of and works with databases these days. The idea is to attach semantic information to this data. I was concerned with using strings extracted from news paper articles ( done by the NLP section) and establish a relation with the semantics. I should finish in a month. You could check out the project website on Google for more information.
  • Last december, I started work with a phD student Hamza Hydri and Prof. Perikilis Andritsos on a Preference tree based search engine enhancement. Primarily, we are interested in using machine learning techniques for the same. Since then I have worked on Naive bayes classifiers, Bayesian belief networks. My current muse are the Nuero-fuzzy techniques and Support Vector machines. If you have any questions, please ask God. I hear he goes by the name Google.
  • I hate the words publish or perish and its accompanying philosophy.
  • I also like photography and one could Google for the link.
  • I used to and still am interested in philosophy and the intermingling between different disciplines of science but I find it hard to talk about this due to the growing epidemic of look and admire at my abilities bug going around. Why did I create this website?
  • I am very far away from supporting any sort of nationalism or jingoism. If you are looking for a voice, dont ask me! You could try Lofti Zadeh
  • I am not a cynic, although I could pass of as one. In fact, I am too content for words. I am no smiling fool, though.
  • I love travelling. If, one day you come looking for me and I am no where to be found, I am probably in Cambodia. At the Angkor vat.
  • I am not a praying man, but if you are out there, please save me SUPERMAN! - this quote is by Homer. Simpson.
  • I wish everyone was like Grisha perelmann. I would have a far finer and smaller collection of papers to read :). I know, I am a jerk.
  • I created this web page using Screem - a free tool. I am not this talented
