Talk:Growth hormone treatment for bodybuilding

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is a comment in the article about use of insulin in conjuction with GH being dangerous. I seem to recall a Body Builder (Samir Banouit?)dying of an insulin overdose shortly after the Arnold classic about 10 years ago. Is this correct?64.128.36.73 17:43, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] source of new article

User:Cavell contributed the initial paragraphs of this article to our large growth hormone article. I think it is an excellent topic and spun it off into its own article for enlargement. alteripse 07:29, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

There is absolutely no peer reviewed evidence to support the claims made in this entry. In healthy subjects(subjects with normal growth hormone levels) growth hormone has never been shown to significantly increase muscle mass or strength. For more information read this article

  • Youre joking right?? Doesn't increase lean body mass or strength... RIIGHT. That's why EVERY proffessional bodybuilder spends tens of thousands of dollars on it a year. Do some more research buddy.Cavell 00:38, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Pro bodybuilders use it, therefore it is guaranteed to work? Anecdotal evidence; completely unscientific and illogical though not entirely incorrect. I don't doubt that HGH has profound effect on the human physique as part of an overall physique enhancement protocol when combined with a proper diet, supplementation, and of course a rigorous muscle building resistance training program. However, your condescension is a little out of place here. When making a response to someone requesting that the author of the article cite a source other than hearsay, it would be nice if you could actually comply with the request. Author R. Lea has written extensively on the subject and can cite literally dozens of studies that at least suggest that HGH is an efficient part of muscle building protocol via chemical enhancement. If you are going to endeavor to write a Wiki article on the subject, it is expected that you be able to do the same.SubXerox 19:47, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
