- The title is in a hard-to-read font.
- The graph would be a little less misleading if the scale began at zero dollars.
- The text blocks are huge, poorly formatted, vaguely POV, and obscure some of the data. I think they should be removed entirely, letting caption or article text fill in these details.
- There are analog artifacts near the edges, especially the top.
- "Economic growth in America" is unnecessary and vaguely POV; the subtitle which describes the information the graph is representing is fine.

- yes fonts could be improved. The text blocs are essential for reader to link the graph to the the main text. They are not at all POV. Removing information doesn't help the reader looking for overall trends. The Title "economic growth" is descriptive and not at all POV. Rjensen 00:37, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think "Economic growth in America" does not add any information that the subtitle does not already convey. It could be seen to put a shiny happy veneer on a period which includes war, slavery, inequality, and recession. Not everyone believes that economic expansion is progress, but "growth" is a positive term. The text blocs seem to be presented as the most important events to explain the ups and downs of the graph, but I don't think the facts that have been chosen are necessarily the right ones, and I'm not sure there's a historical and economic consensus to support any one set of facts for all time periods. It would be fine to put in markers establishing context around major events, such as wars, and perhaps major technological developments, but these should be carefully chosen and well referenced. -- Beland 00:28, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

- I assume the unit of measure of this graph is U.S. dollars? What is the base year? Is it adjusted for inflation? What is the source of this information? -- Beland 00:28, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

- every graph is a selection representation of data. Indeed, so is every table. or every paragraph. Most people like to visualize data, so wiki is helping them. Source: American Economic Growth and Standards of Living Before the Civil War - Page 119
