Halloween is Grinch Night (1977) is an Emmy award-winning animated film produced by ABC. The name was later changed to Grinch Night in a late 1990's VHS release. It has also been called It's Grinch Night in another VHS release. It was written and executive produced by Dr. Seuss. It is approximately 30 minutes in duration. It has been envisioned by fans as a classic Twilight Zone episode, and by turning down the color on most TV sets, it can capture the feel of the Zone, because the show was in black-and-white. Also, by turning the color back on at the climax, in "the Grinch's Alternate Universe of Many Many Scary Things", it can contrast with the dazzling colors of the Grinch's Dimension (a la The Wizard of Oz). When it turns back, viewers can turn it back to black-and-white.

[edit] Sypnosis

It's Grinch Night In Whoville, and Little Euakariah couldn't have picked a worst night to go wandering. Lost and afraid, Euakariah comes face to face with the Grinch himself, whose flying eyebrows are enough to strike terror into most little boys! But Euakariah isn't most little boys, and he bravely sets out to save Whoville from the Grinch's mean-spirited monkeyshines.

This award-winning animated story from Dr. Seuss scares up a ton of mischievous music and frightening fun, including such songs as "I Wouldn't Go Out On A Night Like This," "The Grinch Night Ball" and "Wandering In The Wind".

[edit] Tagline

"Grinches Are Scary, Or So Everyone Hears, But One Little Boy Overcomes His Worst Fears."

[edit] History of Home Video Releases

After initial Halloween airplay on ABC, it was released on VHS. The first release was due to its receiving of an Emmy award for Outstanding Childrens Program. This release eventually fell under the radar, and was re-marketed in the late 90's (almost twenty years later), again on VHS, as "Grinch Night". In 2004 it was released to DVD as an extra on "Green Eggs and Ham".
