Location of Grimacco in Italy

Grimacco (slovene Grmak) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 60 km northwest of Trieste and about 25 km northeast of Udine, on the border with Slovenia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 450 and an area of 16.4 km2.[1] According to the census 1971 77,2% of the population are Slovenians.

The municipality of Grimacco contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Brida, Canalaz, Clodig, Costne, Dolina, Grimacco Inferiore, Grimacco Superiore, Liessa, Lombai, Plataz, Podlach, Seuza, Slapovicco, Sverinaz, Topolò, and Ville di Mezzo..

Grimacco borders the following municipalities: Kanal ob Soči (Slovenia), Kobarid (Slovenia), Drenchia, San Leonardo, Savogna di Cividale, Stregna.
