Grigory Alchevski

Grigory Alchevski (1866, Kharkiv, Ukraine - 1920 Moscow), also known as Hryhorii Alchevsky, was an Ukrainian and Russian composer.
Grigory was the son of a mining engineer, industrialist and banker Oleksii Alchevski, and a teacher Kristina Alchevska. Grigory had two syblings named Ivan and Kristia. Ivan was a singer and Kristia was poet. Grigory Alchevski himself, worked as a teacher of voice and piano, composer and singer. He was a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory of Music. His works include: several texbooks for vocalists, a symphony called "Al'osha Popovich", arrangements of Russian and Ukrainian folk songs, and a series of solo works to the words of Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Franko, Lesia Ukrainka, and his sister Kristia Alchevska.
