Grigore Grigoriu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Grigore Grigoriu was a Romanian football player.
Grigoriu was the first team captain of Rapid Bucureşti. Born in 1899, he had previously played for Venus (1918-1923). His wife hand-made the team's first jerseys, choosing the crimson color because it was easier to wash.
Grigoriu only played for one year for Rapid, leaving for a wealthier team, Juventus Bucureşti, in 1924. Although he felt bad to leave the team he helped be created, he was allowed to leave for a more prestigious team of the time.
