[edit] Image:Sopron Fire Tower.jpg

Hi there, thanks for uploading Image:Sopron Fire Tower.jpg. I noticed that although you had specified in the description that you released the image into the public domain, you hadn't added the appropriate license tag. Every image on Wikipedia must have a license tag, even if the license is described in the description, to ensure everyone can understand what the terms of use are. I've added the appropriate tag to the image for you, but just for future reference: if you wish to release an image to the public domain, please add {{PD-self}} to the description field when you upload it. Thanks! David Johnson [T|C] 01:31, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Disambiguation

Please don't add disambiguation notes to articles whose titles are already disambiguated! No one getting to John Day (printer), for example, will be looking for another John Day. Margana 18:23, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:DCTS.svg listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:DCTS.svg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Delete it - it was working in Windows but not when viewed in a browser. Greenshed 12:15, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] establishment by year

you might run into opposition on that. consider using longer timespans in the mists of history. (i.e centuries) Agathoclea 23:08, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi Greenshed, I removed the 1855 establishments category from the Penn State article because it's already on the Penn State category. In theory, the main article of a category shouldn't have more than one category on it (but the templates screw things up a bit on the PSU article). --Spangineer[es] (háblame) 03:22, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
Is it really necessary to add the tiny Greenland settlements to the establishments by year? Most of them have less than 100 population, and nobody outside Greenland is every likely to have heard of them, they're of no historical significance. Jens Nielsen 09:39, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Greenshed, could you explain your revision to the Norman Technologies article, regarding the change of 1997 Establishments category? You've changed a common nomenclature to a much less common one. --MyWikiBiz 00:59, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

I got your message about the Re-cat. However, I'd feel much more comfortable about this if you were trying to be more productive on these Re-cats in the 1997 establishments. While you moved Norman Technologies, there are at least 3 dozen more companies still sitting there in the "1997 Establishments" category. Do you plan to move these, so that the new category doesn't look like an orphanage? Thanks! --MyWikiBiz 15:39, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
My hand shall be lended. As I write articles about notable companies, I'll be adding the "new" category to them. For community's sake I will also take the time to "re-cat" about 5 or 10 companies that are clearly companies. (Aside: there are too many record labels on this site!) --MyWikiBiz 16:58, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Greenshed, I noticed you are doing musical groups. Please be careful with the Taverner Consort and Players because there is contradictory information about its establishment date. --RichardVeryard 13:33, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi again. In your latest edit, you have taken the 1978 date at face value, despite my note on Talk:Taverner Consort and Players which indicates some evidence for two alternative dates. --RichardVeryard 18:47, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for Information.

Could you please tell me what you mean by "Step # of Upgrade" in the edit summary of several categories which you are working on? I'd like to keep from stepping on your toes... Cheers. --Folajimi 22:25, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the information. A concern has been raised about the heavy-handed effort at consistency, which involves trying to repeat your work for establisments which existed during the first millenium. In other words, it is quite unlikely that you will find a comparable amount of information about first century establishments as currently exists for twentieth-century establishments. As such, I am looking to nominate some categories for deletion.
For more information on the discussion which transpired regarding this matter, please see the discussion entitled "Excessive categorization" at the Village pump.
I would like to know what you think of this matter, so if you have any comments, please join the aforementioned discussion. Cheers. --Folajimi 13:47, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disestablishments by year

Greenshed, since you seem to have helped organize Category:Establishments by year via Template:estcat, would you suggest simply changing Template:discat or creating a temporary one and then changing that so that Category:Disestablishments by year isn't a mess? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 19:32, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Ok, since I see that I would need to require two parameters, I would need a temporary template for it to work properly. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 19:43, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Ok, ignore most of that, but can you explain the logic behind the third and fourth parameters? I'm guessing the third is for the table but is the fourth even necessary? Can you write something on the talk page for the template, and I'll add something to Template:discattemp. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 19:56, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Please feel free to work on the disestablishments by year - otherwise I will get round to it when I get some free time. Greenshed 22:10, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Already started. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 22:40, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
In case you're curious, already finished with Template:DiscatBC and am working on replacing things back to Template:Discat. If you are simply moving things back from the temp to Template:Estcat, why not request a bot to help? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 21:05, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Sorted using AWB. Rich Farmbrough 20:34 15 June 2006 (GMT).
P.S. there is no year zero. Rich Farmbrough 20:36 15 June 2006 (GMT).

[edit] AWB etc.

Look at Category:8_establishments. I've set the << to be 2BC, but it displays 0 anyway. Incidentally you didn't really need the temporary template, look at the source of Category:515 BC establishments. Rgds, Rich Farmbrough 20:47 15 June 2006 (GMT).

[edit] Establishment dates for schools

Thanks for cleaning up after me. I forgot to put the establishments category back. --Usgnus

[edit] Canadian Forces commands

Funny, you beat me by just a minute, and caused an edit conflict at command. I copied slightly more detailed info from Canadian Forces to replace your contribution: hope that's okay. Cheers. Michael Z. 2006-10-16 17:43 Z

[edit] S-pol

Hi, I would like to know whether you have something against it to change your template's colour a little. In comparison with the other existing templates (see on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Succession Box Standardization/Guidelines#General guidelines the colour you have chosen is too firm, so it would be nice, if you could use a more discreet blue. Thanks and Greetings ~~ Phoe talk 19:09, 2 November 2006 (UTC) ~~

Thanks I've chosen MidnightBlue, it is already the same colour but more dully and less shiny. If you are not content, report it to me. Best wishes Phoe 19:29, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for your help

Thank you for your help on the Underwood Canning Company article. It earned a DYK yesterday. I greatly appreciated it. Chris 15:15, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] star-rank pages

I see you started pages for 1 star rank through 5 star rank. Might want to merge those into the existing (and quite extensive and detailed) Comparative military ranks and related pages instead of having them stand as stubby things on their own. DMacks 21:09, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Borders Group. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. Sorry, I am just getting the hang of this application. (This is the first time I truly used it because 1.22 crashed all the time) -- Selmo (talk) 22:00, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Empty Categories

I established the empty categories because I found that some were created incorrectly--the first one or two that I created, I made a mistake: I didn't have the date menu on the top. It doesn't appear to be an issue to me. If someone creates a page, entries the category and happpens to be the first entrant, the page is sitting there waiting for them!
