[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision

Hello, mate, I see that you are interested in Eurovision. Would you like to be involved in connecting with more eurovision wikipedians to do up the eurovision pages in a more coherent manner? I have come across the Eurovision wikiproject page, which seems to have been dormant for over two years. It may be an idea to have a look there and see how we could improve the eurovision coverage. I have done up the Congratulations (Eurovision) page so far and put notes about it on the pages of those who performed there. Best regards from Australia, Blnguyen 23:54, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Eurovision Song Contest

Hi. I have submitted the main Eurovision article for Peer Review, hoping to get it up to Featured standard. If you have any comments and contributions, please let me know. Thanks. EuroSong talk 15:23, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Anna_CyprusFair.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Anna_CyprusFair.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. feydey 18:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:ElenaEBBAwards.jpg

I dont understand why you say it is not at the link I provided. It is at the exact link I provided: http://www.mad.tv/news/?id=24053 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Greekboy (talkcontribs) 06:42, 3 February 2007 (UTC).

I'm soory, that was a problem with my setup. I was getting an HTTP 404 Eror page when following the link. Now I can see the page, but I just don't understand what makes you believe the image is Promotional. It seems like it's simply part of the site's content, not intended for third part use. Are you sure you read their's terms of use? Please, add some info to support the claim that the image is really promotional.
Anyways, is this image really relevant to the article it's used in? Do you think this image is necessary for the understanding of some of the information in the article Elena Paparizou or it at least makes the article more visually pleasing? Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 06:57, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I have added the summery. According to the site, it is alowed to be used. It is significant to the article as it mentions the awards which were a big deal. They are organized by the European Union and the whole thing was broadcasted on MTV Europe with the USA Billboard having a big part in it. Greekboy 07:26, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I understand the award may be important, but do we need an unfree image to talk about the award? Will the text become incomprehensible without this specific image?
Also, could you source your claim that the source site "release all the rights from the picture to be used on the internet."? Where exactly is the text where they make such statement, so that we can put this in the image description page? Thanks, --Abu badali (talk) 07:33, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Alright, I misread part of the text. They provide an email for information, and I will email them to ask for permision. The picture is needed in my opinon, because it shows a significant turning point in her new international career. Greekboy 07:40, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Ok. Make sure to read WP:COPYREQ to learn how to ask for an image to be released under a license usable for Wikipedia. Note that if you simply ask permission for "using the image on Wikipedia, the file will end-up being speedy-deleted under WP:CSD#i3.
For now, we better remove the {{promo}} tag, and avoid using the image before the licensing issues get cleaned up. Please, do not push the use of this image meanwhile it's licensing is still being worked on.
Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 07:46, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:1346468925 l.jpg

Hi. Can you please help me with the licensing on Image:1346468925 l.jpg? I don't know which is the right one. The image is obviously allowed to be used freely, as it is distributed to the media in press kits, as well as used on the poster for her winter concerts. I could even get a screen-shot of the same image, as they use it on TV too. Greekboy 20:12, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Even if this image is legally ok to use, our policy on non-free material forbids us to use non-free image whenever it's possible to create free alternatives. This is almost always the case with pictures of living people, where a free-licensed image should be found or produced to be used. In the meantime, the article should go with no images for this purpose. Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 14:40, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:PressPhotoPaparizou.jpg

What am I supposed to do? Post the email response I got to prove its a free image? Greekboy 22:46, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

As I told you before, you should follow the instructions on WP:COPYREQ when requesting permission to use an image. If the image was really released under a free a free license, you should have hasked the copyright holder to send a copy of the e-mail to permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org. But keep in mind that "permision to use this work on the internet" is far from enough from an image to be usable on Wikipedia (again, please read WP:COPYREQ for avoiding such common mistakes). Asking permission to use an image on Wikipedia, for using it for educational and/or non-commercial purposes is also not enough. The copyright holder must release the image under a usable license.
That is, PLEASE, read WP:COPYREQ. It may save you a lot of time (and frustrations). Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 22:54, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:1346468925 l.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:1346468925 l.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] License tagging for Image:Epomeni kinisi.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Epomeni kinisi.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:07, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Despina Vandi

Hey, I see that you like to fix discographies and stuff like that. I was wondering if you could reformat the one for Despina Vandi. It's very comfusing and hard to find out the order of release and year. Grk1011 02:20, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Just to let you know

Disc is spelt with a "c" and not a "k", i noticed you were spelling it wrong. it wouldn't make sense for me to fix them and then have you make more with the wrong spelling. It's not a big problem. Grk1011 19:49, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
