Talk:Gregory Helms
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Was the end of Gregory Helms' "Hurricane" superhero gimmick related in any way to hurricanes Katrina and Rita? Regardless of the answer, this needs to be specified in the article (especially if it is). [[Briguy52748 19:52, 8 November 2005 (UTC)]]
- He has stated that it wasn't. His comment was that the Hurricane gimmick was originally supposed to last only a short while, but ended up lasting years.

Im pretty sure that he lied about that as he said it on some WWE format.
I don't know. It's possible, but there's no concrete evidence. Besides, wasn't the south destroyed by hurricanes the previous year too, just not to the extent of Katrina? Also, Mshake3 04:11, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

To the dude who keeps reverting this..if you check gregoryhelms.com his official website it says that he was SELF TRAINED, he's 215 lbs and was BORN IN WENDELL, not Smithfield. and there in no reason to lock people out!
Well this is from gregory helms.com
Name: Gregory Shane Helms Nickname(s): Gregory Helms Past Nickname(s): Hurricane,"Sugar","The Suicide Bomb," "The Show," "The Serial Thriller," "IBM: Insane Bump Machine", "Kid," "Kid Vicious," "Gauge," and "The Nice Package" Birthday: July 12th Wt: 215 lbs. Ht.:6' Hair-Brown with green Eyes-Brown From: Smithfield, North Carolina
This along with all other resources state he is from Smithfield (even his Myspace puts it as his hometown) put as for using information only taken from his website perhaps I should have cited WP:RS and/or WP:AUTO, which suggest that the subject is not a reliable source in a biography.
also as for training he may have origionally tuaght himselfs but he was later given training in OMEGA which is stated in other sources. --- Paulley 13:02, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

- I will tell you who i am... I am the type of person who came to wikipedia 2 years ago and worked my ass off writting and bringing articles to some sort of standard.... for two years now i have been creating articles (well over the 200 mark which includes this one) and keeping them in good condition... and for two years i have had to listen to 12yrold americans, who have only ever watched WWE (oh wait im sorry you guys watch TNA now too) and have just figured out how to use a computer add week-by-week updates and add there oppinions on everything because now they can use the internet and think they know everything... you know sweet f' all and i will be damned if i'm gonna listen or care what you think --- Paulley

[edit] The pic
I uploaded a pic of him not as the Hurricane. User: Dustind i was wondering how,in the last section they say that his revert to gregory helmes is his first heel turn since the alliance when this artical already states that he had 1 or 2 heel turns before the revert to gregory helmes and after the alliance?
- yea i see what you mean... i have removed the comment -- Paulley
Speaking of pictures, I uploaded a picture of Gregory Helms in his attire and with the Cruiserweight Championship, it has most of his body, not just his face so it would be easier to identify him, but it got removed because it wasn't a "Free Use" image. Now what is a free use image and how do I know that the image I want to upload will be considered "Free Use" in the eyes of Wikipedia?
I've read the article on it and it's making no sense to me.:] --- User:Cool King 1:20, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm the one who removed it. For a basic overview, fair use images are copywrited images that can be used for educational purposes. Free use images are preferred above all others. They are not copywrited in most cases, but in all cases they can be freely distributed and used for all purposes. The one up now is free use, but the one you put up doesn't even list the copywrite information. We don't know what it is; it may be a copywrite violation to post it. You, or whomever uploaded the image forgot to post this info, so I reverted to the free use image. -- THLCCD 13:34, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
its hard to belive he use to be the green super hero of justus Sailor cuteness 13:47, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Only Person???
In the trivia section of the article it states that Helms was the only person to hold both WWE's and WCW's cruserweight and hardcore titles. Now I'm not sure but I think the hardcore title one is true but Billy Kidman has held both the WWE cruiserweight title, WCW cruiserweight title, and the WWE owned WCW cruiserweight title. So unless the are talking about the only person to win all four belts, then it is wrong. I'm not 100% on the point that was being made. Sorry.
- But he is the only person to hold all 4 of them. That is what the artical meant i think. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.80.187.222 (talk) 21:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC).

who cares that he likes Cookie crisp
[edit] incorrect info
Gillberg was not the last male wrestler to hold a title for over a year. Forget Rob Van Dam's ECW TV title reign which last almost two years and ended a month after Gillberg's? And don't dare say ECW does not count. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.32.248.121 (talk) 09:07, 30 January 2007 (UTC).
-
- i think it regards WWE titles... i mean hundreds of people have held wrestling titles for over a year i can name at least eight British Heavyweight Champions who have... anyway i will rewrite to show this -- Paulley
- ECW doesn't count. Since that was before WWE owned them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.80.187.222 (talk) 21:25, 21 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] New Music
I Think It Should Be Noted That Helms Has A New Music. (Id Rather Be Hated For Who I Am, Than Loved For Who I Am Not 01:31, 19 February 2007 (UTC))
- Definetly, but does somebody know the name of his new theme? --82.83.69.53 18:33, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

- If someone does find out the name of that song, please let us all know - RVDDP2501 20:41, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Finisher/Signature Moves
I Disagree that helms variation of the Shining Wizard is a "Running enzigiri to a kneeling opponent" and is more of a modified variation of the Shining Wizard. If you watch closely he does not step up he just 'cycles' his feet before connecting.(Much like Booker T does for his Scissors Kick.) --BenTotkyo 15:17, 2007 (UTC)
A Shining Wizard would be a knee to the back of the head. Since his foot is connecting with the head, it is considered an enzigiri. Peace, 声援 -- The Hybrid 23:03, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- A Shining Wizard is not a knee to the back of the head only. It can be a knee to the jaw, forehead and side of the head. In general terms if the knee is used, then it is a SW, if it is the instep of the foot, then it is an enziguiri. And if it is the sole of the foot, then you are watching Masahiro Chono. --HDC7777 18:46, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
My mistake, I retract my previous statement, I guess I had my mind set on the step-up version of the enzigiri. Anyway, should the Chokeslam be considered a finisher for when he was the hhurricane, seeing as how he did use it as such for some fo his run? and should there be a Hurricane listing, or a Shane Helms listing to seperate an confused notions that Gregory used the chokeslam or the X-Plex? --BenTotkyo 14:52, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
