[edit] Tower tree?

No mention of the tower tree? That's crazy! It was on Ripley's, also there oughta be a mention of Storie's, since that's where the news media stop every time they're in town for whatever reason. Most recently to talk about the potential Honda plant. I really think these things need mentioned, the tree at least for cryin' out loud. But what is there is so nice I'd hate to screw it up myself.

[edit] Bogus Letterman reference Deleted

I deleted reference to David Letterman having worked as a summer intern at WTRE in the 70s, since it isn't verifiable by anthing I can find online and he graduated in 1969 I don't believe there's any proof of him being an intern at WTRE.

[edit] Government

You know, Shel Smith was involved in some kind of scandal where he got arrested for stealing the parket meter money? Or parking ticket fines back in either the sixties or early seventies, and of course Ryle was also involved in the famous purple martin massacre, so I don't really think the generally good government line quite flies... I'd like to find some good reference on the other scandals so that whole section could be updated or so that a seperate scandal section could be added.

[edit] Government Part 2

The "generally good goverment as benifits a small town" thing really just doesn't fit a town where the previous mayor. Bailey was the matter of some scandal, and the previous TWO mayors did jail time for crimes commited while they were mayors. Does it? I am certain that Mr. Ryle went to jail for a non-trivial length of time, and I have always been told that Mr. Smith went to jail for the whole parking ticket scam thing back in the 60's or 70s. I just can't see how that's "good government". One was a Democrat, and one a Republican. So I don't think there's any bias at work here. Yes I'm aware that Smith's problems were long ago and his last term was relatively scandal free, and that he was a nice man. But I still don't think you can say Greensburg has had "good government" over any length of time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Indiana Don (talk • contribs) 03:31, 15 March 2007 (UTC).
