[edit] Greater Timor?

Wouldn't a more idiomatic English rendering be "Greater Timor"? In analogy with similar geographical notions intended to signify an area at its greatest extent, not just a core or "rump". //Big Adamsky 06:40, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

I agree technically, but check Google – there's almost no hits for "Greater Timor -Wikipedia" which don't relate to something like "greater Timor Sea" or something like that. It seems as if this is the odd one out when compared to other "Greater ..." concepts... —Nightstallion (?) 07:46, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
I agree about the use of "Greater Timor" being more idiomatic, but the concept itself is complete baloney. East Timor has enough problems of its own without taking on those of the western half of the island. Quiensabe 10:42 19 January 2006

I completely disagree with the false information being spewed in this article. There is simply no such thing as "Great Timor Movement", as the people of West Timor (the Atoni) are of completely different ethnicity with those of East Timor. In fact, the West Timorese have a long-standing hatred against East Timorese and vice versa. West Timorese soldiers and militias are known Indonesian loyalists and participated heavily in counter-insurgency operations under Indonesian army. Meanwhile, West Timor is the stronghold of pro-Indonesian East Timorese militia under Eurico Guterres.

There is no way in the world the West Timorese would want to "join" their traditional enemies the East Timorese, like there is no way Palestinians would want to join Israel.
