~~The date on the board in the back of the image says Feb 3 9, presumably February 3, 1909, in which case the copyright is expired in the US.~~

The Tampa greyhound track opened in 1933, so that date must be 9 February 1939. ~~I'm marking it as unverified for now, while thinking about fair use justification.~~ --iMb~Meow 13:52, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

For fair use justification in Greyhound and Greyhound racing:

The image's commercial value is long gone (it is the photo finish for a race that happened 65 years ago)
Photo finish equipment used movie cameras, so this is a single frame from a motion picture. Additionally, it is substantuially the same as the photo finishes from thousands of similar races.
It is used for a specific educational purpose (to describe greyhound racing).
In the U.S., it is unlikely that the copyright was renewed, as a search at http://www.scils.rutgers.edu/~lesk/copyrenew.html indicates. It is highly likely that (at least within the U.S., other locales will differ) the image has fallen into the public domain.

This work is copyrighted and unlicensed. It does not fall into one of the blanket fair use categories listed at Wikipedia:Fair use#Images or Wikipedia:Fair use#Audio_clips. However, it is believed that the use of this work in the articles "Greyhound" and "Greyhound racing":
