Gregor Maiden
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gregor Ian Maiden is a Scottish cricketer.
Born in Glasgow on the 22nd of July 1979, Gregor spent his formative years attending Hutcheson's Grammar School, before going on to study at Loughborough University along with fellow Scotland cricketers Fraser Watts and Simon Smith. After three years, he graduated with a third class honours degree in Journalism.
A frontline batter and off-spin bowler, Gregor has had a nomadic club career, having spent spells with several clubs in the west of Scotland and a brief stint at Lancashire. In 2004, he signed for the popular Grange club in Edinburgh, where he has been since.
Gregor can lay claim to being a genuine all-rounder, as in 2005 he became one of very few players in the history of the game to have batted, bowled and played wickie for his country when he took the gloves for a crucial ICC Intercontinental Cup clash.
Away from cricket, Gregor is a sales rep for Dante Fires. He lists Kate Bush as his favourite musical artist, and his favourite book as Bravo Two Zero, by Andy McNab - which, he says in his Cricket Scotland Player Profile, 'improves with every read.' He currently lives in the exclusive Edinburgh New Town neighbourhood of Fettes Village, with business partner Jed Maxwell.
