Gregory Michael Piper MP (born 31 August 1957) is the Mayor of Lake Macquarie City Council, being elected to the office on March 27, 2004. He was also elected as the State Member for Lake Macquarie on March 24, 2007.
Elected as the Mayor of Lake Macquarie in March 2004, Independent Councillor Greg Piper was first elected to the council in 1991 and served as Deputy Mayor through 2000. He has been active on council, sitting on and chairing numerous Council and State Government committees.
Councillor Piper has always had a strong focus on the natural environment and has held positions on the Estuary Management Committee, the Lake Macquarie Project Management Committee, and the Hunter Waste Management and Planning Board, amongst others.
He has maintained tight relationships with the communities of Bali, and assisted in delivering aid including medical supplies after the 2002 Bali Bombing and the 2005 Bali Bombings.
Greg grew up in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Kahibah. He has three children and one granddaughter. He now lives in Mirrabooka, near the Westlakes suburb of Morisset, with his wife Lyn and Dalmation Winston.
