New York State Assemblyman Greg Ball (born September 16, 1977) is the representative for the 99th District in the State Assembly. Ball defeated 12-year incumbent Willis Stephens, Jr. in a Republican primary in September 2006 taking 71% of the vote. Ball is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and has vowed to fight for reform when he arrives in Albany. His campaign was focused largely on two issues: school property tax reform and cracking down on illegal immigration. Mr. Ball is a resident of Carmel.

[edit] Political career and background

Assemblyman Ball represents the 99th District of Patterson, Mahopac, Carmel, Southeast, Putnam Lake and Brewster, in Putnam County; Yorktown, Lake Mohegan, Somers, and North Salem in Westchester County; and Pawling in Duchess County. George Pataki represented the seat from 1985 to 1992.

Before his election to the State Assembly, Ball was the Vice President of Exceed International, a real estate development company. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and subsequently served as a protocol officer to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Air Force Chief of Staff. Ball has also worked in the White House Drug Policy Office under President Bill Clinton. He was honorably separated from active duty in January of 2005 and remains a captain in the U.S. Air Force Ready Reserve (IRR) to this day.

Greg Ball is a committed advocate for reform in Albany and has promised to fight for School Tax Reform, introduce legislation to reform the Budget process as well as champion term limits and open committee procedures, and begin to crack down on illegal immigration statewide. [dubious ]
