Christine is studying for finals. She sneaks out for a smoke. Jimmy comes home from a softball game. She hides the smoke, but he discovers it and says "your ass is smoking" She replies "Thanks babe, you're not so bad yourself". He asks her how long she has been smoking. She says since last week. She decides to quit cold turkey. Jimmy says that the last time she quit cold turkey she threw the microwave at him. Later that night, Christine is shoving packs of gum in her mouth. Greg comes home and says he is up for a promotion. It is between him and a guy named Stewart. Jimmy asks Greg what he is going to do to get the promotion. Greg says what he always does. Jimmy says he should suck up. Greg says he should write a success book and then read it.

Jimmy has a company softball game. Greg is mad because no one asked him to play. Greg’s boss, Mr. Savitsky, is there and Jimmy tells Greg to suck up to him. Kim tells him he should say something because she needs a new dishwasher. Jimmy hit’s a home run and wins the game for the company. Mr. Savitsky congratulates Jimmy. He finds out the Greg is Jimmy’s brother-in-law.

Greg announces that he got his promotion. Jimmy congratulates him and tells him his home run paid off. Jimmy says isn’t it strange that he got the promotion the day after his home run. Greg is furious because Jimmy thinks he got him the promotion. Greg wakes up that night and tells Kim that it is ridiculous that Jimmy thinks he got him the promotion. Kim says let Jimmy think what he believes. Greg says if he does that Jimmy will think that’s how the world works.

Greg asks Mr. Savitsky if he got the promotion because of hard work. Savitsky tells Greg he probably got the promotion because of Jimmy’s home run since he made the decision after the game. Christine quit smoking and passed her finals. Greg tells Jimmy he did not get him the promotion. Jimmy said it made him feel good for a change that he did something for Greg. Jimmy says he talked to Mr. Savitsky and found out the truth. Greg said he lied because he doesn’t want to owe Jimmy anything.
