Greenvale is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Its Local Government Area is the City of Hume. It is between Yuroke and Attwood on Mickleham Road.
Greenvale expanded largely in the 1980s and now has 2 shopping centres, 3 primary schools, including a large one called Greenvale Primary School, a community centre and 2 kindergarten centres. Greenvale has a privately owned school called Aitken College, but residents are pushing for a state government college.
Although positioned only 20 mins from the CBD and 10 mins from Melbourne Airport, Greenvale has been up until recently known as a semi rural area, categorised by the larger farm holdings to the north of the town centre (past Somerton Rd). Three of these farms (the one bordering Aitken College is known as "Hacienda") are now set for development into a new housing estate, taking advantage of excellent city views to the south and a view of the Greenvale Reservoir to the east. This will continue the trend for Greenvale in undergoing further residential development, with several new estates appearing in the suburb itself and in nearby areas such as Attwood and Roxburgh Park.
