Greenisland is a small commuter town in County Antrim, 7 miles to the east of Belfast, Northern Ireland on the northern shore of Belfast Lough in the borough of Carrickfergus. It had a population of 5,050 people in the 2001 Census. It has a rail link to Belfast on the main Larne line. It borders Jordanstown and its University of Ulster campus.

Claire Morgan lives there and is great. David McKay lives there and is so-so.

Greenisland Urban Area is a small town within Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area (BMUA), as classified by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA)[1] (ie with population between 4,500 and 10,000 people). On Census day (29 April 2001) there were 5,050 people living in Greenisland. Of these:

  • 21.6% were aged under 16 years and 22.1% were aged 60 and over
  • 47.5% of the population were male and 52.6% were female
  • 9.6% were from a Catholic background and 84.3% were from a Protestant background.
  • 3.3% of people aged 16-74 were unemployed.
