The Green Broadbill, Calyptomena viridis of Borneo, Sumatra and Malay Peninsula rainforests is a brilliant green plumaged bird with a wide gape bill, rounded head, short tail and three black bars on wings. The bill itself is very weak and almost hidden by crest above it.

It feeds largely on soft figs and their feeding habits helps the distribution of the seeds around the forest floor. The female usually lays two to three whitish eggs, and the young fledges after 22 to 23 days.

Due to continuing habitat lost, the Green Broadbill is evaluated as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
