The Greek legislative election of the 19 February 1961 resulted in the third in a row victory for Constantine Karamanlis and his National Radical Union party.

Nevertheless, the leader of the newly formed Center Union (an alliance of all liberal and centrist parties), Georgios Papandreou, questioned the legality of the results, supporting that Karamanlis and the palace rigged the vote. Papandreou announced an "uncompromising battle" against Karamanlis' government, demanding new and fair elections. Karamanlis denied all the allegations of Papandreou, although the latter insisted in his allegations, speaking for elections of "violence and fraud".
