Greece’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was Everything performed by Anna Vissi. The Greek national broadcaster, ERT selected the performer internally, choosing Anna Vissi to represent the home country in Athens. The song Everything, composed by Nikos Karvelas and written by Anna Vissi herself, was selected on March 14 2006 by a combination of a public telephone/SMS vote (60%) and expert jury (40%). Choreography for the final was done by Mia Michaels.

Anna Vissi was born in Larnaca, Cyprus, but moved to Greece at the age of 16 to pursue a singing career. She had previously participated in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, for Greece in 1980 and Cyprus in 1982. She had also entered pre-selections for the contest in 1986 and 1989 (for Cyprus and Greece respectively), finishing runner-up both times. Vissi has also had a long and successful domestic and international singing career, with several chart albums and hits, whilst collaborating with her former husband Nikos Karvelas. Her current release is a DualDisc called "Nylon".

Although considered a favourite, along with the Swedish entry, a ninth place with 128 points finish was all Vissi could manage on the night. Of all the songs in the top twelve, only her entry and the one of Mihai Trăistariu of Romania had not needed to go through the semi-final and had qualified automatically.
