Great Lakes region (North America)

The Great Lakes region includes much of the Canadian province of Ontario and eight U.S. states that border the Great Lakes. The entire Canadian Great Lakes shoreline is in Ontario.
In the United States, "Great Lakes" is often used to separate this region from the rest of the Midwest. This is because the Great Lakes region tends to be more urbanized and more liberal politically and socially when compared to the Midwest at-large.[citation needed] (See Also: Third Coast)
