Great Britain Historical GIS
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Great Britain Historical GIS, GBHGIS, is a spatially enabled database that document and visualise the changing administrative boundaries of England and Wales the past 200 years. The aim is to make demographical and social statistics from different years comparable, even if the administrative sub divisions have been subject to alterations. GBHGIS have also made it possible to create maps that displays borders of parishes e.g. at a given time, based on temporal query.
The system is created and maintained by the University of Portsmouth.
