[edit] Some concerns

Hi, the articles that you created, Babu Rao and Victor Premasagar may not be considered notable. Please see WP:BIO. Also, as these persons are well-known or related to you, these edits also violate WP:AUTO. You may want to see WP:NOT to understand what is acceptable and what is not on Wikipedia. I understand that you are new to Wikipedia and it appears that you have another account, which is new as well, and as such, you may not understand all the policies and procedures of Wikipedia. Generally, it is advisable to have one account. I suggest that you ask for these articles to be deleted or get them userfied. Userfying implies that they will be stored on the extension User:Grbpradeep/Babu Rao etc. Please note that this can be done only as a special concession considering that you are new, and that the user space also should be used for material related to the work on encyclopedia apart from some personal information. Please let me know in case you need any clarification on my talk page. --Gurubrahma 16:34, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi, please take time to go through the above links again at leisure - I am sorry but I believe that your edits are not within the norms followed by WP. Please note that either me or other editors may have to put these through the deletion process. btw, I know a lot about the A. C. College as I spent my childhood in that vicinity. Also, your removal of names such as Sathya Sai Baba from the list of famous people, without explanation in the edit summary would be considered vandalism. Please sign your messages on talkpages with 4 ~'s like this ~~~~. That would leave a signature with your username and time stamp. --Gurubrahma 18:18, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Response to your message

At the outset, pl. be patient as this is a longish response - I have tried to answer all your queries here, apart from making my observations. Without further ado, here goes:-

1)I hope you had the time to go through all the links that I had provided; else, may I suggest you to take off time and read them first before creating other articles. Otherwise, it is going to be a waste of time for both of us. I am already disappointed as you have gone ahead and created another article that violates WP:AUTO. Please realise that repeated violations of Wikipedia policies can get you blocked from editing Wikipedia.

2)You say that I had earlier removed some names from the list which were originally inserted by you. Either you did not log-in or your cookies expired, the page history only shows an IP and I have no way of knowing if it is you or not - IIRC, I had not even interacted wth you till then.

3)You say that people from all religions should be represented. Fine, but they should also be notable. Just as we do not include all temple priests or all mathadipathis, we should not be including all bishops, same as the way we would not be including all college lecturers. I can also say, why only these bishops, why not Rev. Gali Bali etc. - there is no end to such lists, hence notability needs to be established.

4)You have classified Satya Sai Baba as secular and that classification stays. So, what religious representation are you talking about?

5)My observation about removing his name was that you did so without edit summary, which doesn't give a chance to understand your intentions and hence, may be considered vandalism. look at my latest removal as well and look at the edit summary. Acharya Nagarjuna is a class apart (historic figure) and hence the entry remained. Also, see that while I re-inserted "Baba" the first time, I did not re-insert the name of some other Guru which was removed by the anon IP(probably yourself as can be gathered from your latest message on my talkpage).

6)Please sign talkpage messages with 4 ~'s as explained in my previous post, your latest message doesn't have the time stamp.

7)To the best of my knowledge, deleting the other log-in id is not possible. A good course of action would be to mention on your user page that you have another account created due to oversight and give that user name.

8)Personally, I believe that all religions are different roads to reach the same God. You may want to have a look at the history of the article, Mother Teresa - you will find that I have removed vandalism from that article many a time.

9)Finally, may I once again reiterate my earlier suggestion of going through the links provided in the previous post? TIA, --Gurubrahma 13:51, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Subbamma

Subbamma has been proposed for deletion. Please improve the article according to Gurubrahma's advice if possible. If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the prod notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. NickelShoe 17:09, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:DonBosco.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:DonBosco.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Having troubles?

I see you've gotten a lot of notes from other Wikipedians concerned that you may not be doing everything according to Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Do you have any questions? I received a message from a user who was concerned about some of your articles but wanted to make sure you were approached politely about it. There is a concern about some of the articles you've written about disaster relief efforts in South Asia.

Are you familiar with Wikipedia's policy on original research? Since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, we can only publish information that's verifiable by independent sources. We don't have the ability to verify information ourselves, so we have to rely on other organizations to have already checked up on it.

I don't want to throw a bunch of information at you, and I don't want to come across as condescending if I explain things you already understand. But it's important that if you want these articles to remain on Wikipedia that you make sure the information is independently verifiable, otherwise they may have to be deleted. I'll keep your talk page on my watchlist if you want to respond here. NickelShoe (Talk) 20:13, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

No problem. Your efforts are always appreciated. NickelShoe (Talk) 20:39, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Here it goes

I will only list a couple of issues. The articles that I have in mind are: Anuragam, Anuragam 1, Anuragam 2, Anuragam 3, Anuragam 4, Punarnirmaan, Navnirmaan

General tip: Remember that what you write will be visible for everyone as soon as you save. Therefore you cannot have half-complete 'under construction' pages. Not event if you write 'under construction' on the page. Keep the prototyping to the talkpage of the article or in the sandbox. A good tip is not to start a new article until you completed the last one!

Content
  • No original research: Read and follow the instructions!
  • Adverts are not allowed on wiki! That is the case even if the 'product' is a humanitarian relief project. Look at some other organisations and projects listed in Category:Development charities. The page of Médecins Sans Frontières is arguably the best on wiki. It is a factual listing and not so much a promotion of their cause. If they, as one of the worlds largest organisations, are able to list their current projects on the same page as the organisation is being presented, I think that you can do the same!
  • Try to focus your articles into a small set (preferably one, just like MSF above) that becomes important and relevant to the subject. If you split it up too much you run the risk of having them deleted on the basis of vanity!
Format
  • {{Current event}} is for news events. Look at the other articles!
  • Use of headings
    • Do not make images into headings
    • Do not add empty headings
Wikilinks
Pics

You can get general help from at the wiki village pump. I hope this helps! Now I am off to my holiday from wiki!

[edit] Anuragam

Thanks for your contributions. I was trying to help with Anuragam. The main point is that the article needs to be verifiable.

It seems that Anuragam is not mentioned on any of the sites under External links (e.g. this search), and I could find nothing just by Googling. It is essential to have a source for the information, otherwise it will be judged original research and deleted - and it would be a shame to work hard on articles only to have them deleted. So please provide a source. (Alternatively, if this is an original source, it would be appropriate to write up a web page and put it on a different web site).

If you have any questions, you can always ask at WikiProject International development:, or ask me. Cheers --Singkong2005 09:37, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Improvement

Pradeep, I checked some of your articles today and you are definitely improving. However, remember not to take on more that you can chew. So please complete the articles that you have started before you create a new article. I made an attempt at helping you with the image layout on Punarnirmaan. Have a look and see if you like it.

Even though you have many good references now, you have to remember to use the in the text. There is a description here about how to do it. Also, it is not standard practice on Wiki to use titles, i.e. Mr, Rev, Prof. Do this only in certain cases like country presidents, kings, sirs etc.

Good luck, rxnd ( t | | c ) 15:19, 23 April 2006 (UTC) (former Drdan)

I realised that I was partially wrong about the titles. I asked around and I was told that the titles Rev. and Fr. should be used the first time a person is mentioned in an article, but only the first time. Mr. should only be used if it is absolutely required to avoid mixing up the person with someone else, and should also only be used the first time the person is mentioned. You have some more info here. rxnd ( t | | c ) 13:44, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Machilipatnam

Thanks for your contributions on the article. It hasn't seen many editors. I grew up in Machilipatnam in my younger years and then moved to Chennai. You might want to add a reference to the St. Mary's Church's mystery. - Ganeshk (talk) 22:09, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestion: Move some of your articles to the Development and Sustainability Wikia

Some of your articles are not suitable for Wikipedia, as they are original research, including Anuragam. I suggested previously that they could be moved to a different site. Now I would like to invite you to use the Development and Sustainability Wikia. This might be the easiest place, as it's also in wiki markup, and hopefully will develop into a community of editors interested in development issues.

I have already started this with the Anuragam article: see Wikia:Scratchpad:Anuragam (part of the Development and Sustainability Wikia). Please check this out, and improve it as necessary.

After you have moved the articles to the new host, please flag the Wikipedia articles for deletion using the {{db}} template.

Note that although we appreciate your efforts, if Wikipedia articles are not shown to be verifiable, they will have to be deleted. Thanks, --Singkong2005 05:48, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Please check these also, to see whether you want to move them off Wikipedia, e.g. onto the Development and Sustainability Wikia, or whether to change them to meet Wikipedia guidelines: Anuragam 1, Anuragam 2, Anuragam 3, Anuragam 4, Bosco Seva Kendra, Punarnirmaan, Navnirmaan. Cheers, Singkong2005 05:41, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Andhra Christian Theological College -- category

I feel that it is not appropriate to inlcude colleges under Category:Andhra Pradesh . A sub category can be created to inlcude "colleges in AndhraPradesh". Imagine adding all the colleges in the A.P to Category:Andhra Pradesh !!. Sumanthk 06:09, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Utc.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Utc.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] AfD nomination of Attwi members

I've nominated Attwi members, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Attwi members satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Attwi members and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Attwi members during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. - Anirvan 17:44, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your latest msg.

Hi, saw the page - it seems to have been corrected by someone - the blanking seems to have been done inadvertently. Have a good day. --Gurubrahma 06:09, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Not notable - please move some of the articles to a different site

Re your articles Anuragam, Anuragam 1, Anuragam 2, Anuragam 3, Anuragam 4 and others - they are still largely not suitable for Wikipedia, e.g. where the only source given is the website of the organisation which is doing the project - they are not notable in terms of Wikipedia guidelines. Anuragam 1, Anuragam 2, Anuragam 3, Anuragam 4 seem particularly unsuitable, so I have merged them to Anuragam as an interim measure.

Such pages will inevitably be deleted from here, so I would request that you move them to another site. I am currently editing at Appropedia.org, which has a development focus, and would welcome descriptions of these projects.

Note: this is not saying that these projects are not valuable. This is also not just saying that the articles should be developed more in order to meet Wikipedia standards - there is no reason to believe that any individual development or aid projects will ever merit a Wikipedia article unless in exceptional circumstances, where the project has attained a high profile. Thus these articles should be moved ASAP.

Please ask me if you have any questions. --Singkong2005 talk 06:56, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unaccredited Indian Seminaries

Kindly give documentary evidence before you falsely claim accreditation for several seminaries where you try to project these fake seminaries as accredited by the government. The Hermes 11:51, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Dear Grbpradeep, you have again posted a defense about the fake "Serampore University" on my talk page. Here is what I have to say: Please do not keep repeating one and the same thing. Please provide documentation about whether the Government of India or UGC has permitted Serampore College to act as a University. Without UGC permission, any institution claiming to be a University is a fake university. UGC has made it clear any number of times. Does this "Serampore Univeristy" has UGC or Government of India recognition or accreditation ??? Unless you can show these things the so called Serampore "University" is a fake university. The Hermes 15:36, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Dear Grbpradeep, you have again posted a defense about the fake "Serampore University" on my talk page. Here is what I have to say:Kindly do not ask questions. Please furnish answers and proofs. I do not have to write to UGC. Each person who writes for wikipedia should furnish proof. Others can demand proof. They do not have to hunt for it. There are a large number of bogus universities. UGC has made it clear any institution claiming to be a University without without it approval is bogus. Thus your so-called Serampore University is simply bogus. Kindly furnish proof without multiplying questions to me. The Hermes 18:11, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Grbpradeep, you have failed to engage with other editors on this issue and you give the appearance of promoting what is, to external appearances, a diploma mill. If you continue to use misleading edit summaries and fail to engage on Talk pages, you will be blocked for disruptive editing. Guy (Help!) 10:49, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Brookie here - your comment is quite false - Grbpradeep has been trying hard to sort this out and is not being disruptive - it rather the other way around! Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 16:32, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem

You tagged Image:Gerhard von Rad.jpg as being your own work released into the public domain. Thi is not a credible claim, the image appears here [1] and is identified as an archive photo from the late 1960s or early 1970s, thus clearly copyright. I do not think you are an archive photographer with over three decades active in the field. It was deleted once under a different licensing tag, if you upload it again with invalid licensing you may be blocked from editing. Guy (Help!) 22:50, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Likewise, you cited various acts for issuing degrees. Please provide some of texts and context for the claim. As the UGC fails to mention this exemption, I would like a source. PatriotBible 23:32, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Andhra Christian Theological College & Serampore...

Hi, I've been busy of late and not in a position to look into the matter. I suggest that you touch base with Nichalp - he should help you. Or WT:INWNB. Also, it may be a better idea to copy-paste the discussion with that person on the talk-page of the relevant article. All the best and belated wishes for a happy new year, --Gurubrahma 15:12, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Serampore College

Hi Brookie here - I've had another go at calming User The Hermes down - but he does seem to have an irrational bee in his bonnet. I've quoted chapter and verse at him - but whether that'll help or not I don't know. My interest in this is that I am a relative of Joshua Marshman who was one of the founders. Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 16:29, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

The College is accredited and licenced to issue degrees - what is irrational is a paranoid claim that it is some diploma mill - which it plainly isn't! Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 14:28, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Serendipity

Hi Brookie ! After much 'defense' on Serampore College (rather Senate of Serampore College), I had turned to Gurubrahma for help. Then, you sprung out of nowhere. Much delighted for the same. Around the same time I had also started a new article on Senate of Serampore College - but that got deleted after a week or so. Kindly help revive it. Further, long ago, I had also started articles on some of the affiliated colleges under the Senate of Serampore College. The Hermes had intruded there and also mentioned about 'unaccreditation' which again needs to be guarded against.

Under Serampore College, I wish to add list of Principals and matters relevant to the College alone. Once you revive Senate of Serampore College (was earlier started as The Senate of Serampore College, I wish to add a list of the Masters and the Registrars including affiliated colleges under it.Pradeep 17:40, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll have a look - I have also just written William Ward - one of the College's founders, which you might want to look over. Cheers. Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 17:44, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
I couldn't see any deleted articles under either of the names you mention in the Deletion Log - can you double check the exact name for me? Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 17:48, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
