[edit] Proportionate Pirate Law
No sooner than the article has been deleted -- twice -- someone puts the same thing back as a redirect. It gives the impression of trying to circumvent the purpose of the deletion in the first place. But since an admin has seen fit to remove the deletion template, I'll give it up, as it obviously is tilting at windmills, and I'm being cast as the crazy bad guy. The hell with it. So much for trying to do the right thing. --Mhking 04:55, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kokudrumroll
Sorry, I was editing the page and accidentally kept reposting it. When you do a Google search for the most relevant java turn based strategy the first link is "kokudrumroll.com" because of the number of users that we have. It has also been discussed over the last year in the game developer community on allegro.cc, rec.game.design, gamedev.net, and on the advance wars by web forums. Thanks! Thraveboy 18:17, 8 December 2006 (UTC) 07:05, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
There is a review on the game site tigsource.com where you can verify kokudrumroll. It would be great to get it unlocked so that I can add the page back. Thanks! Thraveboy 18:22, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
The review and article on the game site TIGSource at least should count as a notable and reliable source for unlocking since it's the main Independent Game Site on the web. Thanks! Thraveboy 02:42, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 7deadlylemons
I don't understand, I am in the middle of writing the article for my paintball team, which is listed in the scenario paintball section and it gets deleted, as being non-notable.
Was this decided by an expert on scenario paintball? I am confused. jbattistini

[edit] Thank you for voting
Thank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 19:56, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] London Action Resource Centre
Hello, I'm requesting your help as admin because i am unsure how to progress in helping to mediate between three revert-warring editors. Basically, there is a dispute over the London Action Resource Centre page between an old member (here on wiki as NickW) and two members of the centre who were expelled for disruptive behaviour (here as Harrypotter and paki.tv).
My view is set out here and whilst im trying to work through the steps of dispute resolution, the more i get into it, the more this seems like a case of vandalism rather than a POV dispute.
But i would like a second opinion on that and if you have time, i would welcome some comments on the LARC talk page. If Harrypotter and paki.tv are indeed making disruptive edits, can you help try to bring them into line? If you dont have time, could you perhaps point me in the direction of next best enquiry? I have already made a request for comment, but the only editor who has offered help over the course of the last week is now just as confused as me [1]!
I am asking you and Bbatsell for advice simply because you both seem like fairly objective admins. Cheers, Mujinga 01:35, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of Lost.eu
Thanks for the speedy-delete of Lost.eu. In reviewing the deletion logs, I notice that it's actually already been deleted four times previously. Perhaps the article should be salted to prevent re-creation; if someone wants to demonstrate some notability in the future, it can always be unprotected.--LeflymanTalk 02:11, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Steelersfan35 sock
Well done recognizing the trick attempted by Steelersfan35 (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log). That's one of the older sock rings I'm aware of here and that's what he does - tries to trick admins into deleting local news personality articles. The preferred target is Roy Leep as you can see in the history of that article. Nice catch! :) —Wknight94 (talk) 02:21, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Why?!! Well, of course it's because - uh - well, I guess - hmmm - I have no idea why... He's crazy maybe? It's somehow related to a nearly sociopathic hatred of CFIF (talk • contribs) but I've honestly never delved all the way back to the origins of the sock ring. Splash (talk • contribs) is quite involved in the case when it flares up real bad. At times, we've had to cancel numerous AFDs, block users a dozen at a time, fix move vandalism, remove personal information, etc. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:40, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey there. Just happened to be looking up stuff about it, noticed you've had it protected for almost 3 weeks. Do you have a timetable in mind on it? --badlydrawnjeff talk 02:31, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- Uy, thanks for letting me know. I thought there was at least one other admin watching the page. =0 I unprotected it and it's on my watchlist now. Grandmasterka 03:43, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your block of Ganeshbot
Hi Grandmasterka, you recently blocked Ganeshbot indefinitely. I think there should have been discussion prior to blocking. The bot was specifically approved for the task that it was doing and it was making edits in good faith. I have created a subsection on ANI and request your comment on it. Thanks — Lost(talk) 14:35, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hi GMK, after the discussion on ANI died down, I started discussing with Zora who initiated the thread on ANI. Please see this and this. I am unblocking the bot and going ahead with the tagging as a result of this. Do let me know if you have objections — Lost(talk) 08:35, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Nothing Lasts Forever (novel).jpg
Tanks for removing the tag, I didn't have time to remove the SD tag. Before the tag was changed, it was the public domain tag and that was the reason why I tagged it. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! User:Sp3000 09:45, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request
Hi there, I would very much like to translate an article from en to es. THe name is: Aaron Valero. The reason behind my request is that I would like this entry to be included in the Spanish Wiki, since the Valero family roots date back to Spain of the 13 century. Could you take on this task? I have found no existing way to do this translation over the Wiki mechanism. Would you have any suggestion?Ronval 12:24, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Yap.Things with the Spanish Wiki seem rather complicated. Your prompt reply is appreciated. I would most probably have to find a way to write the article , from "scratch" and than submit it to the Spanish Wiki.Ronval 09:28, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ben Lewis? That's me!
Hello, My name is Ben Lewis (yes, THE Ben Lewis). Haha, I'm really not conceted, that was a joke. Anyway, my girlfriend took the time to create a wikipedia page talking about who I am and how my music career came to be. It was rather unbiased and informative from what I remember. Neither of us understand why it was deleted. I noticed in the logs that two people made stupid comments, but other than that, I'm confused as to why it is no longer on available. If you could shed some light on this for us, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much for your time!
65.78.122.244 04:30, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ben Lewis shows no such descriptive page in the history. The most recent deleted version of the article read, in full, "This man, Ben Lewis, is a homosexual." I'm not sure that's the descriptive page you had in mind. If your page is under a different title, you should provide a link to it — if your description above is accurate, it was most likely deleted for showing no sign of meeting WP:MUSIC, our standard for inclusion of bands like mine, or artists like you. Grandmasterka 05:32, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I see the mistake "my publisher" made: Since none of my material was published outside of the internet, I would not be eligable for an article. I did not see the guidelines before, thanks for the clear up! If you want to listen to some neat instrumental music sometime when you're bored or if you need some background noise, you can check out my band's music at http://www.myspace.com/themaniacdepressants" Thanks again!

[edit] Re: My browser breaking pages
I'm sorry for the behaviour of the browser I'm using; this isn't my usual browser, and it seems to change line-breaks around pretty much at random when I edit a page (so I'll be careful from now on; normally, that doesn't have much of an effect on a page, due to the way MediaWiki handles line breaks). As for blanking the Main Page talk, though, that's a surprise; the edit box looked fine when I saved. Maybe I'll have to avoid the 'undo' button for the time being... --ais523 13:08, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your RfB
On 28 December 2006 you said this. It's been ~3 weeks since then. What's changed? What changed your mind? --Durin 18:05, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
That was over quickly. In retrospect, I regret that I asked that question. I was happy with the answer, but perhaps you and I are both solemnity-challenged. Oh well, good luck to the right-thinking denizens of WP:RFA in their search for the virtuous and bland. And happy editing (and mop-wielding). -- Hoary 05:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD confusion
Hi. I am confused about how this works. Please see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Gerald_del_Campo_%282nd_nomination%29
And notice that the article is back. The person who posted it is the subject of the article. Isn't that against the rules? I tried to start a new nomination but I think I messed it up.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.22.84.58 (talk • contribs).
- Hi there. I fixed the AfD tag for you... You have to use the {{afdx}} template for nominations beyond the first one (with subst: in front and |2nd or |3rd after.) Next just continue to follow the directions listed on WP:AFD. Normally recreated articles like this can be speedily deleted by admins like me, but this one is different enough from the original version that I'd like to see another discussion. [edit] Del Campo Debacle
Hello!
I must thank you for your voice of reason in the on-going Gerald Del Campo debacle.
Please, be assured that I am not grinding a personal axe here, nor am I affiliated with any rival "secret society" that is looking to hush the opposition. For nearly seven years I have been a practicing solo occultist and am only loosely affiliated with the AMORC and the BOTA (both of which are mail-order occult organizations, neither of which are even considered in this whole mess.)
Honestly, I do believe that what is happening with the Del Campo and Greenfield arguments is an effort to gain a modicum of greater recognition and ego inflation on the part of both subjects. I rely on Wikipedia as a source of valid, inteligent information. I have been using Wikipedia for a number of years (both in school and on the job as a teacher and a computer progammer) and I only wish to insure that Wikipedia remains a viable, unbiased source of reliable information.
Your efforts to keep Wikipedia clean are greatly appreciated. If I could, I'd give you a barnstar.
Eyes down, human. 03:34, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- relevant links have been added to the talk page. Why do you keep insisting that there some ego inflation going on, and why do you want to demean the work he has done? And why do you feel that you can be a judge of people's motives? You keep going on and on about this. Your crusade is the only ego problem I see. I have tried being respectful to you but you keep making comments based on what? The links are there. Some one should evaluate them. Hopefully, not you or one of your other Wiki users. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Solis93 (talk • contribs) 18:30, 26 January 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Conflict
Short summary is that the user does not stop adding his content to pages and he is using sock puppets too many, i ask him nicely he ignores everything i don't know what to do, he also harasses me, so theres no point in talking to him nicely i have lost my temper and assuming good faith does not work with him. Alot of admins know this, theres no resolution since he uses numerous ip addresses. Nareklm 08:26, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
