[edit] StarCraft 2 on deletion review

An editor has asked for a deletion review of StarCraft 2. Since you closed the deletion discussion for (or speedy-deleted) this article, your reasons on how or why you did so will be greatly appreciated in the above review. Maged123 04:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Ferrugem

Thank you for translating Ferrugem. Right now the article does not assert the notability of this person. I believe that you might be Brazilian, so I was wondering if you could confirm his notability, or perhaps provide sources. Otherwise I was thinking of bringing the article to AfD. Regards.--Húsönd 01:18, 8 October 2006 (UTC) ps:se responderes podes optar por português.

Thanks for replying and I apologize for assuming that you were Brazilian. Fortunately I didn't write my whole query in Portuguese... :P Anyway I might just take it to AfD then. If he's notable enough (which I doubt) then he'll pass the AfD test.--Húsönd 01:40, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, your ability to translate Portuguese + caipirinha on user page = Brazilian. ;) Greetings from Lisbon, Portugal.--Húsönd 01:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a tally of 91/1/4. I can't express how much it means to me to become an administrator. I'll work even more and harder to become useful for the community. If you need a helping hand, don't hesitate to contact me. NCurse work 15:35, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Where did my page go?

I set up List of NLP Courses which you deleted. Why were there no instructions for how the entry should be modified to make it acceptable? Where I can go to recover the content so it can be posted somewhere else, and so I can repair the other Wikipedia entries that link to it? Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 59.167.73.18 (talkcontribs) .

[edit] Re: Image:William Fichtner.jpg

Hi. I am now really confused about the policy of images in Wikipedia. Recently, several promotional images used in Prison Break characters' and Lost characters' articles had been tagged for possible copyright violation. The editor explained that it is required that the use of promotional images has to been accompanied by an original source proving that it did come from a press kit and not secondary sources like Yahoo!TV which is why I said "copyright violation, no original source". Also, on Fox Broadcasting Company's site, their terms of use does say that "The reproduction, duplication, distribution (including by way of email, facsimile or other electronic means), publication, modification, copying or transmission of material from this Site is strictly prohibited unless you have obtained the prior written consent of FOX or unless it is expressly permitted by this Site." Can you please point me in the right direction? Thanks, Ladida 09:26, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. -- Ladida 00:22, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Endgame

I also have no idea what to do about this user. He is currently making some of the most bizarre RfA comments I have ever seen on Aksi great's RfA. I posted my concerns, including whether or not we should impose a community ban, on the Administrator's Incident board, but I'm not sure if anyone will see it. RyanGerbil10(Упражнение В!) 21:44, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

My administratorship candidacy succeeded with a final tally of 81/0/1. I appreciate your support, and I really got a chuckle when you reminded me of that old RfA dispute. Results are at Wikipedia:Recently_created_admins#Durova. Warmly, Durova 21:57, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Baby name

Whoops, I was trying to fix another users missing wikilinks. The times were pretty close, might have been an edit conflict I missed. Thanks for the suggestion! -Ravedave (help name my baby) 04:48, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Muchas gracias

Hey Grandmasterka, thanks a lot for supporting me in my recent RfA. It succeeded, and I am very grateful to all of you. If you ever need help with anything, please don't hesitate to ask. Also, feel free point out any mistakes I make! Thanks again, —Khoikhoi 04:01, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Alex Machacek

The article looks just fine to me

  • best known for his jawdropping 1999 debut
  • for his extra-ordinary chops
  • the ease with which he shifts

And this is "just fine" how, exactly? You can throw in the ownership issues, and I didn't even TOUCH the notability and referencing issues. --Calton | Talk 06:13, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Then there's no need to edit war over a tag and throw a HUGE hissy fit on the other editor's page.
Thanks for getting it utterly backwards AND insulting me simultaneously. Rare talent, there.
Note I also said notability, not just referencing: who IS this guy? Referencing is part of demonstrating exactly who someone is and why he or she is worth an article, or did you miss that, too? Note also I see dozens of garage-band/wannabe artist articles daily and tag 'em accordingly -- this one has the same overwrought style most of the longer ones seem to have -- and this one got off lightly in the tagging. If he can't understand tags, or basic NPOV, ownership, and attribution policies when they're placed in front of him, it's not my job to pound it into his head until he does.
Which reminds me, I have to go put up for AFD a musician article that I went so far as to consult with Ed Ward (NPR's "Rock-and-roll historian") over. If you want to make up some reason why that's bad, too, be my guest. --Calton | Talk 06:52, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Hi Grandmasterka, thanks for intervening in Alex Machacek article and verifying the notability and neutrality of the article. I am really dissapointed by the attitude of Calton. I have no personal interest in writing about Machacek. The information I had entered was mostly from the articles I have read about Machacek. Let me tell you, I am not even a big fan of Machacek. I am basically into heavy metal. Actually I had searched for Machacek in Wikipedia, so I could get more information on him, but there being no article I created it just for the sake of Wikipedia. I had an article on him from a reputed magazine, and ofcourse, much info from the net that I got, I added into the article. The article was in the process of expansion and revamp when this user comes out of nowhere and straightaway tags the article. This was extremely dissapointing. He could've left a note on the article discussion page or on my talkpage since till that time I was the sole editor of the article. But his confrontational and supremacist attitude was really bad. I was busy developing the WikiProject on Maharashtra, when I decided to create this article. And what do I get ? My talkpage filled with attacks. I am quite dissapointed. If some people don't want, I won't contribute to that article at all from now on.

[edit] Thanks for the rollback help

Regarding Udsieq's mass tagging pictures, I reverted the rest but credit a lot of the work to you. Thank you! Gotyear 07:48, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

So what was wrong with tagging the images? The ones I looked were images from commons that had empty description pages here. Look at one of the examples brought up, Image:CloudOpticalThickness.jpg and click edit. There's nothing there, the description is from commons. The empty description pages are supposed to be deleted per the exact template the user tagged the page with. - Bobet 19:21, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
FYI, my reply is on AN/I here. Gotyear 21:33, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

I've finally had the time squeezed in during my long Wikibreak to thank the voters and commentors on my my RfA last month, and I thank you! I'll try again as previously planned in spring, in the time period between my high school graduation and enrollment in a university. This time, I'll have time to "prepare" (and not be on Wikibreak next time). Hopefully I'll win it easily. I'll be back to the Wikipedia soon, visting xfD everyday in addition. I was glad to see that you wrote a bit on why you were neutral on my nomination, unlike many on the page. Do you have any tips or suggestions for me on being a good Wikipedian or administrator? Thanks again, X [Mac Davis] (SUPERDESK|Help me improve)08:39, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A very Californian RfA thanks from Luna Santin

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which succeeded with a final tally of (97/4/4)! I've never been able to accept compliments gracefully, and the heavy support from this outstanding community left me at a complete loss for words -- so, a very belated thank you for all of your kind words.

I have done and will continue to do the utmost to serve the community in this new capacity, wherever it may take me, and to set an example others might wish to follow in. With a little luck and a lot of advice, this may be enough. Maybe someday the enwiki admins of the future will look back and say, "Yeah, that guy was an admin." Hopefully then they don't start talking about the explosive ArbComm case I got tied into and oh what a drama that was, but we'll see, won't we?

Surely some of you have seen me in action by now; with that in mind, I openly invite and welcome any feedback here or here -- help me become the best editor and sysop I can be.

Again, thank you. –Luna Santin
Another user I'm happy to see around the wiki. :) Thanks for your trust, I won't let you down. Luna Santin 20:07, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Elonka

Thank you very much for your support in my RfA. Unfortunately consensus was not reached, and the nomination was not successful. I do however appreciate your comments, am still in support of the Wikipedia project, and will continue to contribute without interruption. Thanks again! --Elonka 08:43, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New Articles

Hi Grandmasterka, I have added some more info to Alex Machacek and I have created three album articles as well. Can you check them please. Here they are - Featuring Ourselves, Delete and Roll and Sic_(album). Bye. Have a nice time editing. --NRS | T/M\B 14:30, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Can I use any of those album cover images in the main article on Alex Machacek. Is it as per rules or a violation ? Tell me. --NRS | T/M\B 14:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/99.94

Hi. Please see my last post to this page. I'm requesting a speedy close. Thanks. --Dweller 08:39, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

OK, fair enough. Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on merging it "by hand", as I have no desire to muck up the Bradman article. You Americans have a lot to learn about Imperialism, that we Brits can teach you. I'll be impressed when the Iraqi baseball team beats the American one, like India, Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa and especially Australia routinely do to England's cricket team! --Dweller 08:51, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Please take a look at 99.94. Is this a case of a newbie stomping all over something in blissful ignorance? --Dweller 11:05, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
I've assumed it was and have reverted. --Dweller 10:03, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reply

I believe in putting warnings on users if they do or did something wrong that was not specifically warned. Even if I was not the one who reverted or removed vandalism, I would still put a warning template on them. bibliomaniac15 21:40, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Censorship in Portugal

Hey Grandmasterka! How is adminship treating you? I was wondering, if you aren't too busy, if you could add the above article to your workpile of translations. It's featured in Portuguese, you see. I don't understand Portuguese, but did create a stub from the beginnings of the Spanish version. But its such a broad and important topic that the article really should be more than a stub, don't you think? Don't worry if you are occupied by other matters; I just thought I'd ask. Thank you! -Fsotrain09 01:56, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Not that I care that much....

But do people like yourself randomly look at user talk pages with not greedings and add the "Welcome to Wikipedia!!!" topic?

[edit] Talk:Minneapolis South High School

I certainly don't expect you to know this, but the two students mentioned were both shot and killed (one in a drive-by, the other left on the Mississippi River bank) in the last two weeks or so. I think labeling it "nonsense" is impolite, even though such content did not really belong on the talk page. I'm not picking a fight; I just wanted to let you know. —Sesel 02:35, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Point well taken. Grandmasterka 05:53, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
