[edit] History of the Portuguese Communist Party

Hello! Thank you very much for the copyedit. I have some grammar problems, but I keep learning every day I spend here. Your changes are fine, I'll only change "theses of the Party" to "theses of the Congress". Will you keep copyediting? It would be great, since I can't do much better than that. I believe the article is almost complete, except from minor details. Do you find it good? Thanks again! Afonso Silva 10:16, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't want to bother you, but how is it going? You didn't reply, that's why I'm asking. Cheers! Afonso Silva 17:17, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Oh, ok, I realized that "spanked" has a different meaning. Maybe "beaten", isn't it? A group of members of the National Union gathered and sent him and some other supporters to the hospital when he was leaving the rally in Rio Tinto. Thanks! Afonso Silva 09:10, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

I changed two of your corrections. The only thing you that you misunderstood was the maoist split from the Party. They left the Party, they didn't managed to influence the Party's political stance. That happened after the 6th congress, that was held by the time of the sino-soviet split and maoism as an independent doctrine was rising. Thanks!

[edit] About articles needing translation

I checked them right now and I see that none of the articles needing attention can have their needs fulfilled by my expertise. Thank you for reminding me however; I will continue to check that page. --ĶĩřβȳŤįɱéØ 06:29, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Eugene Rousseau.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Eugene Rousseau.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Note that any unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigDT 16:33, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello! I'm Afonso Silva, I changed my username to Mário. Cheers! Mário 09:09, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Luz station

Yes, I meant the zone around the station, like a borough or something. I hope you like it. The Portuguese article was not very good, as always. Cheers! Mário 19:53, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

If you need me to translate an article, because you need to eliminate a red link in a major article, or something, just ask. And congratulations for your RfA, you certainly deserve it. Cheers! Mário 09:22, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

You're now our newest admin. Be conservative with the admin tools, especially at first, and re-read the relevant policies before acting. Do your best and have fun using the new tools to help the place out. - Taxman Talk 05:07, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

First it was pile-on support; now it's pile-on congratulations. I feel like I'm constantly late to the party!  :) Welcome to adminship! It's a lot of work, a lot more of an onus, and, sh, don't tell anyone, it's actually a lot of fun. You'll probably screw up a couple times in the first few weeks; we all do. Don't worry. Drop me or any of the rest of us a line if you need a second opinion on anything. Above all, welcome aboard! JDoorjam Talk 07:25, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Nah, don't worry about it. I figured this would happen anyway. I'm becoming more of a public figure in real life anyway and I still don't think disclosing my real name would add much to the problem. Freaky, though... Grandmasterka 05:56, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I guess that blue link will be coming soon then! Cheers and hope you're enjoying adminship -- Samir धर्म 05:59, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for contributing to my successful RfA!

[edit] Speedy deletion tags

(previous warning removed by sender)

There's no need to put a template on my talk page telling me not to remove a speedy tag. I thought List of online Christian pop radio stations would be an expandable list, similar things have survived AfD and I didn't see that it had been deleted before (though I should have...) Does an administrator have to use {{hangon}} too, for something they didn't create? Grandmasterka 18:49, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Oops. For some reason you didn't show up when I looked for you in the sysop list, or I typoed your name. Never mind :) Stifle (talk) 22:32, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA

Hi, thanks for taking the time to thank me for my vote, and to respond to my commnent. I take on board what you say, and I mean I do agree with you. I should point out that this has been my only ever "weak" oppose vote, and I thought in every other respect you were a superb candidate. I'm sure you'll make a great admin, and if you ever need a hand with something let me know. --Wisden17 15:12, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

If I ever may be of assistance, just leave a note on my talk page.

[edit] Lists Galore

Yuy... I went on Wikibreak and the first thing I see is this discussion and the successful RfA despite not meeting the standard 75% support... What have I missed? Is there a lower standard for editors who were previously admins? What are these Kelly Martin lists about? This is a sign that I really have to get away from RfA for a while, but can someone enlighten me on all of this? Grandmasterka 20:09, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Long story, Grandmaster. See Danny's statement regarding the closing and the outrage over the closing. Now the list... it was something Kelly Martin created on July 3 to keep track of something, but few people know what. Kelly Martin stated it was for her benefit in making certain decisions. Someone (BigDT, I believe) noticed that all but five of the oppose voters in this RfA were in this B List although they weren't added by Sean Black (they were added by Kelly Martin). BigDT and many others presumed this B List was a blacklist although Kelly Martin says it's not and Cyde is laughing over the fact that Mailer diablo gave out Defender of the Wiki awards to those who uncovered the list. Sean Black did, however, add a name, Xoloz, on July 3, well before this RfA. And so some (or rather many) people want an explanation for the list but neither Cyde, Kelly Martin, or the other participants want to reveal what it's about. Now we have Kelly Martin's Q list, which Mackensen thought may have been a parody, and the Spectrum list (I haven't seen that one). In short, listcruft. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 20:20, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki stalker

Hi, You recently were kind enough to offer to accept admin requests. I must be doing something right as I seem to have picked up my first wiki stalker! What's the procedure to follow in such cases? Yawn :-) Dlyons493 Talk 16:31, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply - much appreciated. It's pretty minor - I think it's just a backlash against a copyvio tag I've had to restore. Let's wait and see if it just goes away - if it becomes a timewaster, I'll get back to you. Dlyons493 Talk 17:08, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm the translator of article Cengiz Kurtoğlu. Thanks for adding those tags for development of the article. I dont know so much english but i can tell him simply in English and than u may correct its mistakes (if u want). I'll write his discography and other things important about topic and I ask u to 'cleanup' it. Please?! --81.215.179.241 09:04, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Victor Niederhoffer etc

Hi, There's been a spate of activity by relatively new editors on this and related articles (Steve Wisdom, Gitanshu Buch etc) - much of which has involved copyvio text. If you look for example at the edit history of User:Jimbo68 and User:Swism you'll see what I mean. I've reverted chunks of this but and now having frivolous speedy tags put on articles and AfD nominations (as well as the sockpuppet warning yesterday). Perhaps a bit of traffic-calming (or a checkuser run) would be in order? Thanks Dlyons493 Talk 11:51, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Hope you're up and running again! Things seem to have quitened down for the moment but it's made me aware of a surprising level of sockpuppetry in certain clusters of articles. I think AfD closing admins probably need to weigh carefully the edit histories of new and reactivated users. I haven't looked at Requests for Admin but it's an area that would lend itself to the same sort of concerns. Dlyons493 Talk 02:53, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
