[edit] Re: GUN

I have absolutely no proof that GUN sold poorly, aside from the fact that I definitely recall reading it, whether it be on IGN, Gamespot, or somewhere like that. But now that I think about it, said article might've been referring only to the Xbox 360 version. Of course, even if it was a smash hit, I would still vote delete on the GUN II article, as it's unverified. -- Kicking222 03:21, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Haha! Here it is! [1] 225,000 copies is in no way terrible, but for a very high profile game released on all four current/next-gen consoles, it's rather poor. -- Kicking222 03:25, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Baltar (Paredes)

Hello! Nice work with the template. I don't know much about Baltar, just the fact that is the location of one of the best kart racing circuits in Portugal. The paragraph that starts with "A antiguidade do povoamento de Baltar deve atribuir-se à época romana..." ("The settlement of Baltar started during the Roman era") should be included in the "History" section. The text from that paragraph until the TOC is about the history of the location. About the concept of "honra", it seems that "honra" was some kind of ancient subdivision, as Baltar was made municipality in the year when it ceased to be a "honra". But I never heard of that, but in that context, it really seems like that. The Portuguese article about "honra" is about something like a theatre play, presented in a anti-MOS way. At the moment I can't help you much with the articles, as I have no internet connection from monday to friday. Nonetheless, you can always send me questions, I'll glady help when I can. How do I add more personal details, such as your cuasi-babel box, like, you have a box that says that you're a native speaker of american english, how do i do that? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rodrigo Cornejo (talkcontribs).

I believe it could be expanded in the area of why the practice is looked down on and different views on it. However, I wanted to be sure I could be able to make it stay before putting too much effort into it.--SeizureDog 01:43, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Götaland theory

I probably don't know more about this than most Swedes with some interest in history. Still, I could probably do something about the article, but it would require some research and reading, and right now I don't have the time for it. The article is bad and the topic needs a rewrite from scratch. I wish we had a better way to handle this type of situation (such as a separate "holding area" or "limbo namespace", as was suggested by someone a while back). up+land 08:14, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My talk page

It's in my user space and I'll do what I want with it. I'm gonna add a notice there about this. ENpeeOHvee 18:32, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Nobody had left a vandalism warning on my talk page. Someone had left some uncivil comments making various allegations which were found to be unfounded at the deletion review. ENpeeOHvee 18:47, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Read this section. It's rarely appropriate to delete things from your talk page; no-one really "owns" their talk page. Grandmasterka 18:41, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
The first sentence says it all: "Deleting the comments of other users from article Talk pages, or deleting entire sections thereof, is generally considered vandalism." Thus, it extends to more than vandalism warnings. Removing comments can be seen as trying to hide criticism. I'm not going to get in a big fight with you over it, but you will get into trouble if this continues. I've seen it before. Happy editing! Grandmasterka 18:51, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Indeed it does say it all - it says "from ***article*** Talk pages" My user space is not an article! It goes on to explicity state that "The above does not apply to the user's own Talk page." At any rate, if someone should leave a message about me allegedly vandalizing an article then i'll leave that at least until the matter has been settled. All that I've removed now are some allegations a user made which Deletion Review found to be untrue and some allegations you made from an apparent misunderstanding of the policy. ENpeeOHvee 19:02, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
(Note: I gave the user the wrong policy: See this for my final statement on this matter.) Grandmasterka 23:38, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CrazyRussian's RfA

Hello Grandmasterka, and thank you for your support at my request for adminship, which ended with an awe-inspiring 86/1/2 result. I plan to do much with my shiny new tools - but I'll start slow and learn the ropes at first. Please deluge me with assignments and requests - I enjoy helping out. For Mother Russia!! - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 05:39, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Grandmasterka, thank you very much for your support in my recent Request for adminship, it passed with a final tally of (65/3/3) - which I find both amazing and humbling. I wish I had time to thank everyone personally, but I'm afraid all I can offer is this token of my gratitude. I hope to live up to your expectations/hopes. If at any stage you need to contact me, for help or a request or to point out a mistake in my conduct, please make sure to tell me on my talk page. --Fir0002 08:34, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thank you for the barnstar you awarded me for cleaning up Götaland theory.

To be fair, it would still be favored by some copyediting. My intention was to clean it up, remove unnecessary material, add relevant material and to make it comprehensible.

[edit] Thanks Linden

Dear Grandmasterka, thanks so much for your support during my recent successful request for adminship. I really appreciate it. Let me know if you need any assistance; feel free to leave a message on my talk page or e-mail me if it is urgent. I must say that the milk gallon in 8 minutes is quite impressive. [edit] RfA thanks!

Thanks for voting!
Hello Grandmasterka/Archive 3 (June '06), and thank you so much for voting in my recent RfA. I am pleased to inform you that it passed with a final tally of (119/1/3), into the WP:100, so I have now been cleared for adminship and will soon be soaring above the clouds. I was overjoyed, shocked, and humbled by the tally, and, most importantly, all the support. Thank you. If there is ever anything you need, you know where you can find me. Take care.

[edit] Re: wiltmore

thnx for checking my first contribution to wikipedia. I'm kind of new to the whole thing so i was wondering how i could change the article so that it doesn't read like an advertisment. -- User:XY

[edit] RE: Advertising is not a speedy criterion.

Hi there.

Advertising and spam is not a speedy deletion category. (I tried to make it so once, but it hasn't gotten enough support.) Please use prod if something you want deleted doesn't fall under one of the established WP:CSD categories. Thanks. Grandmasterka 03:40, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Ah, OK. I've used it a lot before and admins have deleted the pages. Thanks for telling me though. I have copied this on both my and your usertalk. Regards, --Alphachimp talk 03:52, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I do see a lot of admins speedily deleting ads... I have decided to re-open the discussion. See Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion/New criteria#Policy proposal. Grandmasterka 20:14, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re. OS@M@ and other terrible articles

Hi, thanks for the advice! I should be a bit more bolder with obviously rubbish articles like that one, but sometimes I err on the side of caution. Thanks for the encouragement, I'll be keeping my eyes open for more stuff like that! Phileas 08:36, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Admin?

If you mean you're going to get Jimbo to unilaterally +sysop me, then sure. If you want to nom me in an RfA, then no. --Rory096 22:22, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Questions

Hello there! First thing first, no, I don't want to be an admin right now. And about Safari, I have heard a complain before that a non-specified browser was showing the "No CSS" template even when he was logged in. I can only test with Linux at home or Windows at work, so OSX foreign territory for me. The only thing I can think about is that Safari isn't understanding the !important CSS qualifier if it is showing the "No CSS" template. If there are problems with the layout, if you describe them to me I may be able to fix the page. I will see if someone else with Safari is able to give me a picture of the problem. Thanks for informing me about it! -- ReyBrujo 14:43, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, I finally understood what was happening. I thought that, when a user visited my User page, my own CSS stylesheet would be used. However, that is not quite right. That is why you (and everyone else other than me, actually) was seeing the "stripped down" page, which I intended for those who were not logged in. I have inlined all CSS code, which although it makes the page somewhat harder to edit, it should at least display correctly in most browsers (hopefully Safari as well). -- ReyBrujo 04:41, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Ever thought of this Grandmasterka. You are active at PNT, removing deleted content, and also good at AfDs. Apart from that, you write good material. Blnguyen | rant-line 04:11, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yearpage vandal

Dear Grandmasterka, I too was convinced yesterday that this user was performing nothing but vandalism by removing information on Japanese dates, until Mikkalai told me this. Aparently, this anonymous user is right. I'm not a specialist in the subject, but it seems that the issue has been discussed thoroughly yesterday at Talk:Heisei#Future Japanese dates. I too agree that this user should discuss his planned changes, however, so it is clear that some sort of measure is in order. Perhaps it would be beter to remove it from WP:AIV and move the thread to WP:ANI - what do you think? Warm regards, Phædriel tell me - 08:41, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

OK then, please go ahead and move it, dear Grandmaster - I can do it myself if necessary, but it seems you have much deeper knowledge about the edits and changes introduced by this user than me, so your input on the matter will be much more comprehensive and useful than mine. All the best, Phædriel tell me - 09:08, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
