Grapevine (TV series)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Grapevine, created by David Frankel, premiered on June 15, 1992 on CBS. There were three regular characters: David (Jonathan Penner), Susan (Lynn Clark), and Thumper (Steven Eckholdt). David owned a restaurant in Miami, while his girlfriend Susan worked for a cruise line, and his brother Thumper was a sportscaster. The series was a 1990s take on Love, American Style in its couple-of-the-week format. Each episode presented the regular characters (who broke the fourth wall as a rule) telling a story of a couple. Stories were contained within a half hour. Sometimes the couples stayed together, and other times they broke up. The series aired for 6 episodes before being cancelled.

In February 2000, CBS brought back the show. This time, David was played by Steven Eckholdt, Susan by Kristy Swanson, Thumper by George Eads, and a hotel manager, Matt, was played by David Sutcliffe. This version lasted only five episodes.
