Grapefruit spoon

A grapefruit spoon is usually similar in design to a teaspoon with a serrated front edge, the intent of the serrations being to separate the grapefruit from the rind.

Grapefruit spoons sometimes have a bamboo or wooden handle, which facilitates removing the flesh of the fruit by providing a solid grip. It is unknown why other, more modern grips are not used in its place; however, it does make this utensil more easily distinguishable from normal spoons.
