[edit] Technical And Historical

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The DCAM-00 Granzon was the first machine developed by the Divine Crusaders. The design was planned out by Shu Shirakawa, a member of the faction and a good friend of their leader, Bian Zoldark. Granzon was so costly to develop and construct that it consumed two-thirds of the Divine Crusader's budget.

The Granzon uses an antimatter annihilation engine, a perfectly efficient energy source. The annihilation engine is able to meet the immense energy requirements of the Granzon's weapon systems, which all involve gravity and time-space manipulation. An advanced artifical intelligence program also allows the Granzon to engage up to 65,536 enemies at once. The only unit so far that is said to be able to hold the Granzon in one-on-one combat is the Astranagant.

When Shu's power taps into Volkruss, he is able to morph the Granzon into the Neo Granzon. While the Neo Granzon is far more powerful than the original, it is said Shu himself fights better in the original.

[edit] Specifications

Height: 27.3 meters

Weight: 42.8 tons

Weapon Systems:

  • Granworm Sword
A large sword hidden in a wormhole.
  • Gravitron Cannon
Granzon releases a massive gravity wave around it, crushing all enemies in the vicinity.
  • Worm Smasher
Granzon opens up a wormhole in front of itself and fires several energy shots into it. Wormholes then open up at different angles around the target where the shots emerge, attacking it from all angles.
Note: This attack is called "Worm Hole Attack" in the American release of Original Generation.
  • Black Hole Cluster
Granzon releases a Black Hole. This engulfs the enemy and then crushes them within its Singularity.
  • Prototype Degenerative Cannon (試作型縮退砲 Shisakugata Shukutai Hō?)
Granzon opens the covering on its chest and reveals a cannon. It then fires a large energy ball at the target. Granzon only had this attack in Super Robot Wars Alpha. In all other games the Shukutai Hō was only on Neo Granzon.

[edit] Name Etymology

Contrary to popular fan speculation, the name Granzon is not Greek for commandment. Since none of the other Divince Crusaders units or Masoukishin units have names based on actual words, it is safe to assume that the name Granzon is simply an invented one.

[edit] Notes

The Granzon has different Identification Codes:

  • DCAM-00 in the Original Generation series
  • EI-YAM-003 in Original Generation Divine Wars TV Series
  • R-0 in the Alpha series
  • DCSMH-03 in the Alpha series(being the 3rd model of the Valsion Series after the Valsion and the Valsione)
